--SS Omar Vizquel will have his playing time reduced in the season's second half, manager Bruce Bochy said. Emmanuel Burriss is likely to get extra time at shortstop, and Ivan Ochoa could see action there, too. Vizquel went 1-for-3 with a run-scoring double Tuesday, raising his average to .169.
--OF Dave Roberts, who had been out since having left knee surgery in April, was activated from the disabled list. However, Fred Lewis is likely to remain the regular left fielder.
--C Bengie Molina's two-homer game Tuesday was his second multiple-homer game of the year, and the fifth of his career. He went deep twice April 8 against the Padres.
--LHP Barry Zito has won back-to-back home starts after opening the season 0-8 at AT&T Park. He tossed six innings against the Nationals, allowing three runs on seven hits. Zito struck out five.
--LF Fred Lewis homered to open the first inning -- the first leadoff homer of his career. It was his seventh homer of the season.
--INF Eugenio Velez is expected to get the bulk of the playing time at second base after the trade of Ray Durham to the Brewers. Velez went 1-for-4 with a stolen base, his ninth of the season.
BY THE NUMBERS 6 -- Giants losses to the Brewers this season. They were swept in a season series (three or more games) for the second time in franchise history, the other coming in 2003 when they went oh-fer against the Montreal Expos.
QUOTE TO NOTE "We needed at some point to turn our fortunes to our young players. Our older players, if they were good enough in the market to be able to be acquired by somebody else, we were willing to do that. Ray is the first transaction," -- GM Brian Sabean, after trading veteran second baseman Ray Durham to the Brewers.
