--CF Aaron Rowand received his 2007 Gold Glove before Saturday's game. It was presented by his old Phillies manager, Charlie Manuel, in a pregame ceremony. The Phillies were in San Francisco over the weekend. "That's going front and center on my mantel," Rowand said. "Throughout my career, if there was any individual award I coveted, it's that one, because I love to play defense."

--SS Omar Vizquel collected his 2,600th hit, though it took him a while. He made his 2008 debut Saturday after recovering from spring training knee surgery and collected three hits. He played all nine innings, something he didn't do in any of his rehab games. He played again Sunday and was walked intentionally three times, the most intentional walks issued to a Giant since Barry Bonds got four on Sept. 22, 2004

--RHP reliever Billy Sadler pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings Sunday. It was his second scoreless outing since he was promoted from Class AAA Fresno, replacing struggling RHP Brad Hennessey, who was optioned to the minors. Sadler retired both Pittsburgh batters he faced Thursday after entering with one out and two on.

--C Bengie Molina reached base three times using a pink bat, as part of MLB's effort to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. Molina doubled, singled and was hit by a pitch. He also scored the Giants' first two runs.

--LHP Jonathan Sanchez allowed three runs and four hits in 4 1/3 innings. Most telling were his five walks. It was the second straight start in which he failed to last five innings.

BY THE NUMBERS
91-85 -- Giants' interleague record, one of just seven NL teams above .500 in interleague history.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"I was kidding with him that he must have had No. 25 on his back." -- Manager Bruce Bochy on Omar Vizquel, who drew three intentional walks for the first time in his career. Barry Bonds wore No. 25.

Before anyone goes absolutely bonkers, let me begin this thread with the statement that I think Bengie Molina plays hard and always give 100%.  The problem with Bengie is that his baserunning, or lack thereof, has cost the Giants three, maybe four games, this year.&nb ...(more)

The 32.4 million we tied up in Rich Aurillia, Ray Durham, Omar, Dave Roberts and Randy Winn sure seems like it could have been used better.

I think it was about time that McGowen stepped down as a managing partner. Yes he saved the Giants from leaving for Tampa, brought in the greatest player in the modern era, and built that awsome stadium. But he has made some poor decisions in getting talent over the past few years. I think we all regret the ...(more)

Sorry guys, I didn't quite get how fans hate Pierzynski so much. In one account, a Giant employee was said to tell Pierzynski that he ruined the Giants org. I know he had some issues with his work ethics (playing card instead of going over videos with pitchers..etc in 04) but he was quite a productive hitter for us. I dont think i fo ...(more)

Im in a keeper league and was hoping that their are some savvy Giants fans out there that can give me the scoop on Nate Schierholz. How good is this kid and what are his chances of getting called up this season?

Seems to me from what I have looked at that this kid should be on the roster now over some of the other options the te ...(more)

On a scale of 1 - 10 let us continue to rate our Giants as they play
1    -    Don't want to talk about it
2    -    Still don't want to talk about it, but tiny hope
3    -    What have you done for me lately

The AP reported the union is looking into collusion among the teams to not sign Barry Bonds and some others. As to Bonds, it's a simple matter of economics. No one can afford to pay for the people to carry the extra baggage Bonds carries around with him. As to the others, do you want to pay for aging has-beens or let some of your ...(more)

Right after Brian Seaban signed Zito to that ludacrous contract NUMEROUS Giants fans came onto the Mets boards and bombarded us. Saying how Zito will win 5 Cy Youngs and Zito-Cain is the best 1-2 in the game. All I have to say is HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH good thing Omar didn't sign this bum! ...(more)

Assuming Noah Lowry returns to rotation by All-Star break without any issues, could we see 6 starters after All-Star break?

I would not mind seeing this happen to preserve arms for the future that have been on DL, worked hard or just lost up to this point. How does this sound?

  1. Lincecum
  2. ...(more)
