Often-ailing second baseman Luis Castillo left Sunday's game after five innings with a strained left quad that could land him on the disabled list.

Castillo sustained the injury running out a triple in the first inning.

"I don't think it's serious, but we'll see," manager Willie Randolph said.

The forecast is poor for Monday night, so even if the game is played, the Mets aren't likely to test the injury on bad field conditions.

"It tightened up," Castillo said. "We'll see (Monday) what will happen... I don't want to go on the DL now with the team starting to play better."

The Mets have played it cautiously all season with Castillo, who has been bothered by discomfort after undergoing surgery in both knees in the off-season.

METS 8, REDS 3: Oliver Perez can be good or bad in any given game, and Sunday he was both against Cincinnati.

Perez had a one-hitter through five innings, yet only lasted six innings.

Again, wildness was the problem with four walks.

"There's no way of totally figuring it out," manager Willie Randolph said. "Ollie is still relatively young in a lot of ways. His stuff is good, but it's like someone trying to harness a lot of that talent. He gets out of his arm slot and just tries to invent things."

Perez was bailed out of trouble by the offense, which got back-to-back homers from Carlos Beltran and Ryan Church.

I want to get a few people's opinion on Delgado and whether or not you think he used steroids.  He's been considered a power hitter since his first full season in 1996 with Toronto when he had 488 AB's and belted 25 homers.  After that year he had 30+ homerun seasons for 10 straight  years until last year when he hit 24.  MLB started looking into steriods signifi ...(more)

Before the season started I think everyone would have pencield in Detriot as having the best offseason with their aquisions. With the Mets a close second or third picking up the best pitcher in baseball.

But is it even a debate at this point since the Mets have added an ace to thier pitching staff who agian is considered i ...(more)

We have 11 games where we have given up 2 Runs or less and then over half our games we have given up 3 runs or less.  If anything our fielding is struggling, not the pitching.  there are only two teams that have given up more unearned runs than the Mets.  The Ranger ...(more)

Considering our bats have been less than our desired affects, one thing I have noticed is that we have been scoring runs against the better pitchers in the game right now.  We have just faced Arizona's best three and raised all of their ERAs.  We also have faced other teams best pitchers and have done well enough.  Our BA is low but we have been scoring runs.  There have ...(more)

a golden opportunity to get on a role, but "NO", Willie Randolph puts together a line-up for today's 2nd game of the doubleheader that completely sucked.  This is one reason why 1)  I don't think the Mets will win the division and 2) won't make the playoffs.  It sometimes seems Willie Randolph plays to lo ...(more)

We're stuck with Carlos Delgado for this year and hopefully he can provide some offense this year, the last year of his contract.
