After throwing about 30 pitches off the Miller Park mound prior to Friday's game, right-hander Roy Oswalt said he's ready to come off the disabled list and start Monday against Cincinnati.

Oswalt, who has been limited to one inning this month because of a left hip strain, threw at 100 percent while facing teammates Hunter Pence and Geoff Blum.

"It went pretty well," Oswalt said. "I felt no pain. Hopefully, I can get out there and get some innings."

Oswalt (7-8, 4.56 ERA) hasn't pitched since throwing one inning July 11 at Washington when he aggravated a hip injury that initially began hurting him June 30.

"It seems like I haven't pitched in a while," Oswalt said. "Hopefully, I'll get out there Monday and get in a groove early and be able to get deep into the ballgame. I have 13 more starts and should be able to get 200 innings and hopefully take a little pressure off the bullpen."

ASTROS 3, BREWERS 1: The Astros snapped a four-game losing streak by rallying for three runs in the seventh Friday to halt the Brewers' winning streak at eight games. Wandy Rodriguez improved to 6-3 by holding the Brewers to three hits and one run in six innings. Mark Loretta and Kaz Matsui had back-to-back sacrifice flies in the seventh, and Lance Berkman added an RBI single.

Once again, a late-season run tricked our management into believing that we have a competitive team.
