--RHP Jeremy Guthrie, who will pitch on Tuesday in the Orioles' first meeting of the season against the Red Sox, made three starts against Boston last year in his only full major league season. He had no decisions in those games, but had a 2.41 ERA in 18 2/3 innings.
--RHP Jim Johnson has made 13 appearances since being called up from Class AAA Norfolk in mid-April and has posted a 0.84 ERA in 21 1/3 innings. He is 0-1 with his lone runs being allowed on May 5, when he also issued three of the five walks he's allowed and suffered his only loss.
--2B Brian Roberts, who sat out on Sunday after not returning after a first-inning rain delay on Saturday, said he hopes the bruised foot that sidelined him would be lessened enough to allow him to return to the lineup on Tuesday. Roberts said he wasn't sure when he injured his ankle.
--C Ramon Hernandez missed two games because of soreness in his left wrist and noted it hurt for him to swing the bat. He said the pain was in the wrist on which he had surgery when he was with the Padres in 2005. He hopes he can avoid the DL and he is currently labeled as day-to-day.
--LHP Jamie Walker, who has been the specialist against left-handed batters, has been less effective in that regard this season as lefties are hitting .394 against him. He has given up eight hits in 2 1/3 innings over six appearances in May. He has allowed seven of the 18 runners he's inherited this season to score.
BY THE NUMBERS 12 -- Number of consecutive wins over the Royals before losing on Sunday. It was the second time Baltimore won 12 straight over Kansas City; the first was in 1970.
QUOTE TO NOTE "As soon as I shaved my head it started kicking in, so I want to tip my hat to my haircut." -- 1B Kevin Millar, talking about his hitting spree since being moved from the cleanup spot on May 2.

This off season we were all excited because it seemed like the Orioles got a GM that could 1) make good trades, 2) get Peter Angelos away from runiing the club into the ground, and 3) put a 2-3 year plan together that would make the Orioles contenders in the years to come.
While watching the Sunday game and seeing Brian Roberts get that one-hand grab to throw the guy out at 1st, it made me think about all the trade talk...
