--3B Chipper Jones was back in the lineup, sore groin notwithstanding, going 2-for-3 with a walk, his 20th multi-hit game of the season. That leads the National League.
--RHP Rafael Soriano (right elbow tendinitis) threw 25 or 30 quality pitches in a bullpen session, according to pitching coach Roger McDowell, who doesn't really keep pitch counts in these side sessions. The staff will decided what's next depending on how Soriano feels Saturday.
--RHP Tim Hudson has allowed only two earned runs in his last three starts. Hudson faces off against Oakland's Rich Harden (1-0, 3.68 ERA) Saturday night in Atlanta.
--RHP Phil Stockman has been recalled from Class AAA Richmond, where he had a 1-0 record and a 0.77 ERA in 23 1/3 innings in 14 games. He uses primarily a fastball and slider but does throw the occasional changeup.
--LHP Chuck James was optioned to Class AAA Richmond, having surrendered seven home runs -- the most by any of the Braves starters -- in only 23 innings. He is unable to follow through on his pitches, which would keep the ball down, and doesn't know why he can't.
BY THE NUMBERS 2,584 -- LHP Tom Glavine's career strikeouts, placing him 24th on the all-time strikeout list. Glavine passed Bob Feller (2,581) and Warren Spahn (2,583) when the notched three strikeouts against the Pirates May 9.
QUOTE TO NOTE "Amen! Hallelujah!" -- 3B Chipper Jones after the Braves finally won a one-run game, the May 8 5-4 victory over the Padres.

Wonder how many catchers, other than Brian McCann now, have a stolen base and home run in the same game? I would say very rare but could be wrong. Come on stat men/women, tell me.
