Flores fought back from an 0-2 count against Heilman. "The key at-bat of the game," manager Manny Acta said. "What an at-bat for the kid that was just playing A-ball a couple of years ago. I can't say enough about that kid." Felipe Lopez added an RBI single, and Cristian Guzman's two-run single off Heilman made it 5-1. "It's frustrating when you can't hold the game where it is," Heilman said. "Not exactly smooth sailing this year."

Nationals SP Odalis Perez fell to 1-4 on Saturday at Baltimore and departed after yielding a season-high six runs on 10 hits, walking two and striking out two in five innings. "It was bad," he said. "I couldn't keep the game on the line. It was one of those games where you believe before the game warming up that it will be one of the best games. By the time the game starts, everything is different. It was like they knew what was coming."

Redding (5-3) allowed one run and struck out four, improving to 3-0 in three road starts this season. He walked two. Redding pitched four scoreless innings until Brian Schneider's solo home run to right in the fifth inning. The only other hit he allowed was David Wright's single in the fourth.
