Blue Jays OF/DH Matt Stairs only had one hit in Wednesday night's win over the Twins, but it was a big one as he launched a first-inning grand slam in the victory for his sixth homer of the year. "(Bonser) was trying to go fastball away and I think he missed his spot," said Stairs. "I just happened to put a good swing on it and barrel it."

He walked five and hit a batter and allowed Minnesota's first run on a wild pitch. McGowan kept the game close -- but couldn't find the plate. He struck out three and allowed just two hits, but was removed after five.

Matt Stairs hit a grand slam and Roy Halladay rebounded from a shaky start to help the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Minnesota Twins 6-5 on Wednesday night. Stairs' slam in the first inning gave the right-hander a 4-0 advantage. The Twins answered back as Justin Morneau hit his seventh home run of the season in the bottom of the first to make it 4-2 and Jason Kubel added an RBI double to make it 4-3. Michael Cuddyer's RBI groundout tied it in the third. Toronto regained the lead on Brad Wilkerson's RBI single in the fourth off Boof Bonser (2-5). Halladay pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing four runs and nine hits. He struck out eight.
