Dodgers SP Jason Schmidt (shoulder) made his first rehab appearance for Class A Inland Empire on Sunday at Lancaster. He set down three hitters on 12 pitches, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. The Dodgers are a decent contender with a good deal of potential, but Schmidt will have to prove healthy after years of shoulder woes before he should be considered in Fantasy play. Pitchers have had a more difficult time regaining their old form after shoulder injuries than elbow injuries in recent years. (Updated 05/11/2008).

Schmidt, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, hasn't appeared in a game since June 16. The right-hander is still a couple of weeks away from returning, and who knows what he'll look like. He went just 1-4 with a 6.31 ERA in six starts last season.
