Yankees starter Andy Pettitte got off to a great start in Saturday's start against the Mets. His first five outs came via the strikeout and he did not have much of an issue getting through the first three innings. But he gave up three runs in the fourth inning and that was enough to give him his fifth loss of the season. He went six innings, allowing seven hits and two walks. He struck out seven batters. Fantasy Analysis
Pettitte is 0-4 in his last five starts -- his longest skid since May 2003. It was his first loss to the Mets at Yankee Stadium since June 16, 1997. He actually didn't pitch poorly and was simply out-dueled by Johan Santana in this latest outing. Fantasy owners should not give up on him yet as he'll be the beneficiary of a lot more run support once the Yankees lineup gets healthy again. He's still a solid start in larger mixed leagues and in all AL-only formats for his next start May 23 against Seattle. (Updated 05/17/2008).
