Dumatrait out until September?: According to The Sports Xchange notes: LHP Phil Dumatrait was eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list Monday but was not activated as he continues to rehabilitate his ailing shoulder at the Pirates' spring training facility in Bradenton, Fla. Dumatrait, who has bursitis, is at least two weeks away from being able to pitch in a game and will make at least two and possibly three starts on a minor league rehabilitation assignment before returning to the active roster. In all likelihood, he won't be activated until Sept. 1. (Updated 07/22/2008).
Injury Report
Shoulder - 15-day DL. Out until at least mid-August (Updated - 7/22/08)
Fantasy Analysis
Dumatrait is nothing more than a high-risk starter for the deepest of NL-only leagues when healthy. You can ignore him while he is on the DL. (Updated 07/22/2008).
The Pirates scratched Dumatrait from his scheduled start against St. Louis on Saturday due to an aching shoulder and placed the left-hander on the 15-day disabled list. (Updated 07/12/2008)
Advice
Dumatrait (3-4, 5.26 ERA) went on the disabled list June 22, then returned to allow seven runs and nine hits in 3 1-3 innings against Houston on Monday. He felt discomfort in the shoulder while throwing Wednesday, and the Pirates decided to reinstate him to the 15-day disabled list when his condition didn't improve. The move is retroactive to Monday.
