Rays starter Edwin Jackson scattered five hits over seven innings Tuesday against the Yankees before leaving a 1-0 lead to the bullpen. Dan Wheeler worked a scoreless eighth, but Troy Percival couldn't finish off the Yankees as Hideki Matsui tied the game with a solo home run in the ninth. Matt Garza pitched seven scoreless innings in Monday night's 7-1 win over the Yankees, and Jackson took up where he left off in line to beat New York for the second time. He won 6-3 at Yankee Stadium on April 5 and pitched poorly 10 days later in a 5-3 loss to the Yankees at Tropicana Field. Jackson walked one and struck out five Tuesday. (Updated 05/13/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Jackson's performance has been all over the board this season. He was 2-0 with an 0.64 ERA in his first two starts, then 0-3 with a 5.72 ERA over the next five outings to raise questions about whether he should remain in the rotation. He entered Tuesday night looking for his first win since beating Seattle on April 10, but was coming off throwing eight scoreless innings against Toronto last week in a game Tampa Bay eventually won 8-3 in 13 innings. Jackson is likely to deliver erratic performances all season and should only be used outside of AL-only leagues when the matchups appear favorable. His next scheduled start is for Sunday at St. Louis. (Updated 05/13/2008).
Jackson pitched seven shutout innings in the Rays' 2-1, 11-inning win over the Yankees on Tuesday. (Updated 05/14/2008)

Jackson (2-3) has pitched 15 scoreless innings over his last two starts. The Rays are 5-3 in Jackson's eight starts this season with the right-hander posting a 0.50 ERA in the victories but a 11.48 ERA in the losses.
