Blue Jays placed shortstop David Eckstein (sore right hip flexor) and utility man John McDonald (sprained right ankle) on the 15-day DL on Thursday. They called up utility man Joe Inglett from the minors and expect to start him Marco Scutaro or Jorge Velandia at shortstop in the coming weeks. (Updated 05/08/2008).
Injury Report
Ankle - 15-day DL. Out until at least late May (Updated - 5/8/08)
Fantasy Analysis
McDonald has a versatile glove, but he is nothing more than a reserve for the Blue Jays and the deepest of AL-only leagues. Ignore him while he is on the DL. (Updated 05/08/2008).
McDonald was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday. (Updated 05/08/2008)
Advice
After David Eckstein suffered a strained right hip flexor diving for a ball in Tuesday's 5-4 loss, McDonald came on to replace Eckstein, but sprained his right ankle one inning later, catching a cleat and rolling over on his ankle as he went down to backhand a grounder. McDonald is batting .182 with no homers and one RBI in 17 games.
