The Sports Xchange reports that Jack Wilson will begin his injury-rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday rather than Double-A Altoona as originally planned because of wet grounds there. (Updated 05/15/2008).
Injury Report
Calf - 15-day DL. On Triple-A rehab assignment. Might return for May 23-25 series vs. Chicago Cubs (Updated - 5/15/08)
Fantasy Analysis
Wilson, on the disabled list since April 4 with a slightly torn muscle in his left calf, will spend four days with Indianapolis, and the Pirates will then make a decision as to where he will go after that. The tentative plan is for Wilson to be activated May 23 when the Pirates open a three-game home series with the Chicago Cubs. He is nothing more than a NL-only Fantasy option when healthy. (Updated 05/15/2008).
Wilson will remain out of the lineup for at least two more weeks with a strained left calf that has sidelined him for all but three games. (Updated 05/07/2008)
Advice
Wilson was expected to begin a rehabilitation assignment at Double-A Altoona last weekend, but the injury flared up again at the team's extended spring training camp in Bradenton, Fla. Wilson is not yet ready to begin that rehabilitation assignment and, when he does, his extended time off may require him to play as much as a week in the minors. He last played with Pittsburgh on April 3. This week, Wilson is hitting off a tee.
