Blue Jays placed shortstop David Eckstein (sore right hip flexor) and utility man John McDonald (sprained right ankle) on the 15-day DL on Thursday. They called up utility man Joe Inglett from the minors and expect to start him Marco Scutaro or Jorge Velandia at shortstop in the coming weeks. (Updated 05/08/2008).
Injury Report
Hip - 15-day DL. Out until at least late May (Updated - 5/8/08)
Fantasy Analysis
Eckstein is batting just .246 with one homer and 12 RBI in 30 games this season. He plays regularly and gets a lot of bats as a table-setter, when healthy, but his lack of true pop and steals potential make him nothing more than a deeper AL-only option at this point in his career. Consider stashing him only in the deepest of those leagues. (Updated 05/08/2008).
