Seattle Mariners outfielder Mike Morse will miss the remainder of the season after reconstructive shoulder surgery. "That's a tough break. He was starting to do very well," Mariners utility man Willie Bloomquist said. Bloomquist will continue to take Morse's role as Seattle's starting right fielder against left-handers in a platoon with struggling and ailing Brad Wilkerson, who was signed in January as a free agent from Texas. Fantasy Analysis
Bloomquist was in the lineup for Wilkerson Wednesday night against Baltimore right-hander Daniel Cabrera because Wilkerson is day to day with tightness in his right hamstring. Bloomquist can play every position but first base and catcher. He's a handy man to have in deeper AL-only leagues, but he doesn't get enough at-bats to matter in most leagues. (Updated 04/23/2008).
