Barring an injury, recently demoted Yankees SP Ian Kennedy will get at least two starts at Triple-A before the Yankees consider bringing him back to the majors. Kennedy was demoted to the minors on Sunday after going 0-2 with an 8.37 ERA in his first six outings. "We want to see him get some starts and get it going," manager Joe Girardi said. "There's no exact science to that plan. You just want to see him get right, that's the most important thing." (Updated 05/06/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Kennedy allowed one hit in 7 1/3 shutout innings Tuesday night for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre against Charlotte. He struck out eight and walked none. "This kid's going to be back and I think he's going to have a very successful career," Girardi said. Kennedy is young and talented and may well be back up with the Yankees later this season. He is only worth hanging on to in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues at this time, however, since he is no certainty to fare much better upon his return. (Updated 05/06/2008).
Kennedy flirted with a no hitter in his return to Triple-A on Tuesday but settled for one hit through 7 1-3 scoreless innings. He struck out eight and walked none. The 23-year-old was optioned to Triple-A on Sunday to sort out his problems, after he made five starts and relief appearance for New York. He was 0-2 with an 8.37 ERA in the major leagues and had allowed 20 walks in 23.2 innings. (Updated 05/06/2008)
Advice
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, who came to the game, called Kennedy's performance "terrific." "To mentally regroup, come down here and take care of his business like he knows he can, and like he has the ability to do, was also a great sign," Cashman said. "He knows he's got to work through it and we're going to wait for him in New York."
