All frowns for Laffey Wednesday: Indians SP Aaron Laffey wasn't laughing after his poor effort Wednesday against the Angels. Laffey allowed 12 hits and eight runs in four innings of work. He walked two and added two strikeouts. His ERA is still just 4.23 after getting lit up. (Updated 07/23/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Laffey has now failed to go more than four innings in two straight starts, both losses. He wasn't nearly as bad in his last outing, but that was a loss to the lowly Mariners. Laffey is nothing more than an AL-only starting option unless he pitches twice in a week and that is exactly what he'll do for Fantasy week 18 (July 28-August 3). He starts next Tuesday against Detroit and then follows that up at the end of the week at Minnesota. He should still only be starting in deeper mixed leagues. (Updated 07/23/2008).
