 BG and iho,

Ok guys, I'm sucked into the discussion although I still feel that it is a bit unfair.  We could be having a discussion wondering if Tiger beats his wife, and since you obviously can't prove a negative, by your logic, that's would be fair game.  After all he MIGHT be doing that, we just don't know.  Hm....wasn't she seen wearing sunglasses recently.....I wonder if she was hidding a black eye?  Hopefully you get my playful point.

Anyway, here's my logic why I think there is no way that Tiger is juiced.   He has been super great at every level, won everything and dominated his peers for say 20 years.  His performance is almost definately the greatest to this point ever.  Even if he never played again, he will live the rest of his life as an the idol of many million  people.  We don't know him personally but he sure seems like a very honest and well grounded person, so unless he is crazy, why would he do it?  He doesn't need the money.  He does need the fame.

Bottom line here is that Tiger has no motive.  He has absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose.  Tarnish that image?  I think not.  It would be like Bill Gates or Warren Buffet taking up a second career robbing banks.

I think your speculation would be better placed if you were focusing on a golfer who had struggled for years and then all of sudden changed dramatically.  That doesn't descibe Tiger.  Now if Charles Howell III or Jim Furyk gained 50 pounds of muscle and all of sudden were either winning every week or always contending then we have reason to speculate.

BG - I agree 100% with your assessment of Phil.  He is just not mentally tough enough.  Years ago when he was interviewed after blowing yet another event with late bad shots and bad judgement, he said something like "I'm not going to beat myself up over it."  Winners don't except such sub par (please parden the pun) performance so easily.   Besides I'm always bothered by his bobblehead doll act when he's in the heat of battle and then playing to the crowd.  Shouldn't he be more focus on his game?

Great line BG - too funny!!!    "MAYBE you are referring to the NEW John "PhatBassturd" Daly's hardbody."

ALL.....This is LEGITIMATE discussion

of course it is, and the simple fact that  BBYG......AND MYSELF......the two BIGGEST supporters of Tiger Woods on these threads , are so involved in this discussion, speaks volumes about the validity of this discussion! all who know us, and have seen our repeated posts about THE LEGEND, know that we are always FOR him , and not AGAINST him.

i will say , again, that we have only SPECULATED about this, and have drawn NO conclusion, one way or another. if you doubt that, then i suggest anyone start back at the original post here, and completely RE-READ our HYPOTHESIS!

what i am surprised about though,is how many of our " group" of normally active posters, has for some reason, shyed away from this. there are some very smart people on these golf threads, that usually have no problem diving into the fray,so to speak, and they are curiously absent. not a " calling out", just an observation.

as always

....TIGER RULES!!!!!!!!

jus sayin'.....

iho.......

Guys,

I'm a Tiger fan as you can tell also.  So we all agee on that.  If this is a LEGITIMATE discussion then it should be ok for to take a opposite position. Right?

BG, I agree with all the things about golfers looking for an edge.  We all do it in everything we do.  However, I don't buy your argument is this case.  It's a matter of degrees.

If I'm driving 28 in a 25 mph speed zone (say your neighborhood,) am I breaking the law?  Absolutely yes....but does anybody really thing I'm doing anything wrong?   You know where this is going..................however If I was driving 85mph.....well you get the point.

I think this is a great topic...I wish I had time right now to read through all the posts to get a better feel for the debate.  Maybe this has been brought up...does it have to be steroids?  Could it be suppliments that are commonly available and legal for athletes.

I will say Tiger is the only one on tour who looks like Mark McGuire.  There are muscular guys but their shoulders don't look like Mt Everest.

That being said...a lot of the signs are there as some of the first few posts by BG and IHO have alluded to.  Receding hair, muscle growth, injury, etc.  Perhaps there are known tests coming up providing a great time to "get the knee worked on".  Didn't I read where they were testing somewhere soon?

I honestly don't think Tiger would try to use a substance he knew to be illegal.  I don't think he would risk tainting an awesome legacy.  It would shock the hell out of me whereas Bonds, McGuire, Clemens, Sosa did not.  Maybe in the twighlight of his career but not in the prime when it's not necessary.

Anyone,  When Gary Player brought up that golfers should be tested for drugs, just like other sports are doing.  I wonder why it wasn't  started then, instead of a LLLooong wait before starting the testing.  Is this long wait to give golfers time to clear the  drugs out of their systems?

just wondering
