Most folks thataways probably use dual climate electric heat pumps that function as heater at night and an AC during the day. Maybe even some geothermal heat pumps for those that can afford them and a smattering of solar power for hot water and pool heat, although most folks probably use heat pumps for those as well.

Now I hope you are using Bromine in combination with monoperoxide sulfates as a sanitizer in your hot tub. Bleach and trichlorine or even dichlorine combinations are bad mojo for a hot tub and should never be used. We wouldnt want to see your skin get peeled off.

Also is your hot tub equipped with a Balboa electronic touch control pad with a shotcut pad or are your controls regulated by a push button air switch design.

Personally from 20 years of service experience both work well. However mice will sometime gnaw on the vinyl tubing attached to the push button controls and some manufactures will install super cheap and undependable contactor relays down in the control panels.

That said I have had at least a half dozen opportunities to pick up a second hand hot tub for free over the years and even though a few have been in good condition I have turned it down. I despise hot tubs. I drove a fairly good one to the landfill once and chucked it out the back of the truck into a pile of rotted and putrid garbage much to the horror and shock of the bull dozer driver working there at the time.

Working on hot tubs is an absolute nightmare from a service standpoint. It seems once parts start going bad it becomes a nickel and dime you to death prospect and most customers dont seem to want to put the money into a proper repair or cant seem to understand why a 10 year old tub starts having a bunch of problems. From a profit loss standpoint it is almost always a loss.

What we do now as a company is custom designed and built inground units out of concrete or stainless steel and all the equipment is on a exposed pad. Much like you would find with a swimming pool. Actually most of the few we build are built as an island or oasis inside the pool. We will only build these units in conjuction with a swimming pool. We no longer are willing to just build a hot tub or sell and install a fiberglass all in one unit.

People who use bleach and dichlor or trichlor sanitations tend to drop the bottom out on the PH and create an aggressively corrosive water environ. This serves to literally dissolve a heater, melt out the rubber seals on the bulkhead fittings and soften the adhesive (glue) joints to a point were they will give out. Not to mention it can turn a black bathing suit an off gray in a matter of minutes.

Typically we use the same style jet units and so on with our own designs. I have seen the kit pools that feature the bench areas for the hot tub affect. Typically a vinyl liner pool.
