Worried or not, a lot of Sox fans were saying that he can fill in easily for 1 of the starters. Now that Bucholz has weird fingernail syndrome, everyone said they can just plug in Masterson. It's obvious that's not the case now. He may be a top prospect and may have a bright future, but he's not coming up any time soon after getting bombed a bunch of times in AA.

Any Sox fan that knows what they are talking about, would know that Masterson isn't the answer right now. He's ok for a spot starter, but we can't expect him to fill in on a full time basis just yet. David Pauley looks to make Buchholz' next scheduled start.

Correction. He had the stuff. If this guy comes up throwing a fastball in the mid to high 90's like he did back in his day, ill believe he's back. All reports Ive read is that he is no where near that but i havent read anything in a while. And his fastball always has been flat.Have you been reading this thread at all? It was reported that he's been regularly pitching at 95 mph, and at points the fastball got up to 97.

Velocity means nothing without movement.....The last couple of years his fastball has been as flat as a pancake.....

Look, I'm not saying he will come back and return to 2005 form. I'm just keeping an optomistic mind, because I don't want to have to be one of the guys that has admit he was wrong if he comes back and lights it up. I'm being  carefully optomistic on the guy. You just never know. The AAA and MLB coaches and scouts must see something, or else they wouldn't be spending so much time on him. That's all.

With the pitching that I've seen this year,  I guess anything is worth a shot....He can't be any worse than Ted Kennedy and Howard Hughes have been.....
