Can't say I agree with the Giants as third in the division. I don't see the Eagles improving themselves any better than the Giants did. Even if Strahan retires we have the depth at this point to replace him, simular to the way we replaced Tiki. Don't forget Tiki was the second best all around RB in the league when he retired behind LT2 (the real LT will always be Lawrence Taylor). Strahan is not the second best at his position any more. I think Tuck is more than ready to fill his shoes at this point. Plus on passing downs we would put Kiwi on the line with tuck and Osi, which would be compareable to Osi Strahan and Tuck. Besides we don't want Kiwi dropping into coverage from the LB spot anyways. But I don't see Strahan retiring, he will use it as an excuse like he did last year to sit out of training camp and preseason.
You add the fact that the Giants know what level they are capable of playing at and the fact that people once again are doubting them so they won't be overconfident, they have an excellent chance of winning the East and getting a good playoff seed. If we can get Philips and Manningham to contribute like last years draft class (which I believe is very possible) did then watch out especially if Thomas contributes at CB as well.

WE ARE IN THE TOUGHEST DIVISION IN FOOTBALL AND IF YOU COMBINE THAT WITH THE SECOND TOUGHEST DIVISIONAL SCHEDULE THIS YEAR, I CAN SEE WHERE SOME SPORTSWRITERS CAN PICK US THIRD BEING THE HOMERS THEY ARE.

Regarding the pass rush, if you remember early last season before Kiwi got hurt we actually used Tuck, Strahan, Osi, and Kiwi on the line in sure-passing situations. How scary was that for the opposing offense to look at?
But you're right...the loss of Michael Strahan on the field isn't a huge blow. His leadership and production will be missed if he goes, no doubt about it. But Tuck can fill the void...if you look at the stats Tuck actually had the most tackles out of the whole D-line even though he played less downs. That's production...the guy just gets to the ball. Sam Madison, Sammy Knight, Antonio Pierce, and the other vets on the defense should be able to pick up the slack in the leadership department should 92 hang them up.
The thing people fail to realize is we're just as good or even better than last year. Sure we lost 3 starters from the Super Bowl...but despite the loss of Gibril Wilson our secondary actually may have gotten better overall with the additions of Knight, Kenny Phillips, and Terrell Thomas to add depth at corner...Kawika Mitchell was lost at linebacker, but I really don't believe the drop from him to Gerris Wilkinson or Danny Clark (whoever starts) is substantial enough to warrant the claims that the unit got worse. Reggie Torbor was a guy I really liked, but he was really just a depth player that stepped in for an injured starter. That depth will be missed, but who knows, Bryan Kehl and Jonathon Goff may be able to fill that void and help on special teams.
We won't finish third in the division...barring any unforeseen problems (i.e. injury bug like in 2006) we'll finish second or first, make the playoffs, and then we'll see what happens from there.

I agree 100% with nyg-tml.
Plus, you really can't pick anyone else in the division other than the Giants and Cowboys.
Since the Cowboys haven't won A playoff game in 13 years (ironically they went 13-3 to set up year 13 of their drought), can you really have much confidence in them under Philips (same playoff record)?
Last time I checked, the Giants DID win the Super Bowl and quite convincingly. They didn't lose anybody of vital importance, plus they made two great draft picks on Day 1 last month.
As far as the Eagles go...McFraud is not going to lead his team anywhere. Sure, they might beat the Giants this SEASON--a rivalry is a rivalry. However, he's a side-arm QB with no killer instinct. Proof: he almost let the Falcons crawl back in the NFC Championship game because he didn't take advantage of the chances the Falcons gave to finish them off. In the SB itself, he was lazily walking up to the line of scrimmage in the closing minutes of the game against the New England Videotapers when he had no timeouts. Lo and behold his team lost. He is a baby and constantly complains about being a black QB and how tough it is to play in Philly.
Even if McFraud deserved his marquis status, the offense is still tied around Westbrook's ass. They don't have any other option and have done NOTHING to change that. NOTHING.
Washington has the exact oposite problem. Offense is all right, but their defense is suspect at best. They have no pass rush, and realistically speaking, have they addressed the loss of the late Sean Taylor? I'm sorry to say but that is a concern. Spagnolo could've been a great help--he's a DEFENSIVE-minded coach and they hire instead an unproven QB coach. Brilliant.
The Cowboys and Giants will fight each other for 1 and 2 in the division as nyg-tml said.

What a joke this guy is, if you wanna pick us third and say dallas will be 13-3 philly will be 12-4 and we'll be 11-5 then i could accept that, but he's predicting us to be 9-7 ? Has he seen our schedule ? It's easier than last years was when we went 10-6, with Eli not playing very well. Then he also contradicts himself, if we went 10-6 w/ eli at 23 tds and 20 ints why would we go 9-7 with him predicting 25 tds and 12-15 ints for him this year ? Is our defense going to suddenly collapse and revert back to the first 10 quarters of last season ? I doubt it. That's a pretty crappy analysis if you ask me.

very well said all of ya the fact is no one wants to admit that we have a good team except us fans. The truth of the matter is this WE WON THE SUPER BOWL and still we get no respect. Which is fine by me i think the team plays better when everyone says they wont be nothing and that it was just a fluke and blah blah blah blah. So i say let everyone say we suck and let them say it was a fluke cause all it does is add fuel to the fire. And as far as our defense goes did any of these so called experts watch the playoffs we took down the top offenses last year in Dall A$$ the Pack and then the Cheats. none of them scored ov | |
