The draft lottery is next tuesday, and we all know the Bulls have needs....alot of needs.
Now I know the thought of drafting another young player turns alot of you guys off, but does the thought of having Beasley wearing a Bulls uniform interest anyone?
I mention Beasley because he will probably be the second one drafted behind Rose, who is going to be a really good PG in the NBA, and will probably go #1.
I also think it's safe to say that we ALL think that having a star is not an option, even 2 stars for that matter.
And who would be considered a star on the current roster? __________
There are some potentially good players on this team, who would be role players to compliment a star or 2.
I know Beasley is currently an undrafted ROOKIE, heck, not even a Rookie yet, but does anyone think he is a potential star?
And......would he be worth putting together a package of players, draft picks or both to somehow aquire?
The way I see it is this: the Bulls are afraid to trade for a current star, (they have proven that) so it seems the only way they are going to aquire one is through the draft. So why not go and get this kid, since they are likely going to be an average team for a year or 2 anyway.
If he turns out to be a star, then the Bulls are 1 more star away from contention to go along with the role players they already have.
What do you guys think?

Well I agree with you on everything that you have said, it would be nice to have a guy like Mike B. The only knock I have on Mike is that he is lazy on the defensive end, but maybe when he gets to the NBA that will change...hard to say, but maybe, I see him as another Stoudimire a beast on the offensive end but lazy when it comes to playing solid defense. Other then that if Pax could pull it off he would be a nice fit.

ginney,
I would trade both Ben Gordon and Luol Deng for Michael Beasley right now, and he's never even put on an NBA uniform. He is a stud and potentially a star. The only problem I have with your post is the assumption that Derrick Rose has locked up the No. 1 spot. I could definitely see Beasley going No. 1 without a doubt, and more often than not size takes precedence in the top 5.

ScoreFace,
Man, i have been saying for weeks that i would trade Deng and Gordon for the rights to draft Beasley. I would then use our pick on the best available PG.
I thought i was out there by myself on that. It's nice to know i'm in good company on that choice.
Your right he could go #1, it just depends on who gets the pick.
I'll tell you this, if the Bulls can trade Deng and Gordon for the #2 pick, and Beas(t)ley goes #1, then I draft Rose at #2 and am thrilled. Then with our pick, i take the best available SF.
Either way, i am happy
ChiTownCliff,
Is your concern with him on the defensive end? I have read articles saying that he looses interest on defense, and would only hope that at the next level that would change.
Maybe it will when the first time an NBA player dunks on him and makes him look silly.
And i bet your right, that he will be conservetive, and use their pick whatever it is.
I would just hate to see the Bulls lock up that much money on Deng and Gordon, when they have a chance to get a potential star. But what do i know. I just want to see change on this team.

I would rather have Deng and Ben Gordon than Beasley right now to tell you guys the truth. I would rather keep them and draft a guy like Eric Gordon.

DenvBronco14,
I am with you. Why trade away 40ppg, 11rpg, and 6apg for one unproven player. I would however package Ben Gordon and our pick for Rose, but unless some team gets lucky in the lottery I do not see anyone trading the 1st or 2nd pick.
ginny,
Beasley will be a great player in this league, but Luol Deng is also still very young. I would not give up on him yet. Also, yes I was referring to Beasley not playing defense. I am sure John Paxson would not draft him if we got the first pick. Paxson would only move up for Rose in my opinion. Still I think Paxson will just use whatever pick we get. He may however trade the pick and some players for a proven star player like Elton Brand or Corey Maggette. I just can't see John Paxson wanting to start all over again. I would not be the least bit shocked if he Traded nobody and signed nobody except Gordon and Deng and a coach. I am starting to think that Paxson is going to do nothing this offseason except hire a new a coach. Sad

I am going to stay away from discussions regarding anything to do with Deng and Gordon and whether they are superstars or not. All I am going to say about them is shoulda, coulda, woulda and trading them for Kobe Bryant.
Anyways, I like our chances to land any one of the players coming into this years draft out of the following names: Beasley, Rose, Gordon and Love. ANy one of them will be instant stars in the league.

ginney,
Nice thread. I do not think that Beasley is a good fit for Paxson. He is a great player do not get me wrong, but if Pax is going to move up in the draft it will be to get Rose, inwhich I do not think he can get. Paxson will most likely draft with whatever pick he gets and will find a player via a trade or signing. He did sign Ben Wallace and that was a gamble so maybe he will have the guts to sign another star player.

I think Beasley will be a great pro, but I don't think that we need another person to play PF when we already have Tyrus Thomas, Drew Gooden, and sometimes Andres Nocioni, unless the deal for Beasley includes one of those guys. If we were to trade up I'd much much much rather have Derrick Rose. We need a true PG and build a team around that. Hopefully, Paxson makes a deal for him.

JSmooth1,
I agree with you that we don't need another PF, unless it is a better one than we currently have.
I was thinking of Beasley as a SF, because he is a bit small for an NBA PF. At 6'9" 235, and with his skill set, I think he would be a nasty SF.
Here is a link on this guy, that after reading, makes me think he will be a special player.
FTR, I would be just as happy if the Bulls were fortunate enough to get Rose. As he would hopefully make Deng a better player.

Beasley is a beast. I hope the Bulls get lucky in the lottery. Crossing my fingers.
If not, Pax should grab a PG or SF.

Not only would Deng be better with Rose but the whole team would benefit and imagine if D'Antoni coached the Bulls with Rose, that would be fun to watch. Put an average PG on Memphis and they aren't nearly the team that was seconds away from winning the title. Rose ran that team as a freshman and every single player on Memphis thrived because he was there. CDR was good, but was a different player this year. And Rose would throw lobs to Dorsey like CP3 does to Chandler and like someone should do to Tyrus Thomas. Hinrich is a bum. I think we could really use a franchise player and last year it was Oden or Durant and this year has more chances for players to develop into a franchise player, but Beasley and Rose are above them all. Don't get me wrong I'd be more than happy with Beasley, but Derrick Rose is special. He has it all: IQ, strength, power, quickness, vision, maybe his jumpshot could use a little work but it's decent as of now. I could go on forever about Rose and I'm not even a Memphis fan, but I'll end with something John Calipari said this year.
When people ask about point guards in the future, they will ask is he the next Derrick Rose?

JSmooth1,
You are right on about Rose, which is why I would like to see the Bulls make a deal to get the #2 pick and get Beas(t)ley, because Rose will go #1 and (but I could be wrong), no GM in his right mind should pass on Rose.
What do you think about playing Beasley at the 3 instead of the 4?

If Miami gets the first pick then they will take Rose. They need a PG very badly. Infact I think 80% of the league need a star PG. Chris Paul is showing everyone what a great PG can do. Steve Nash proved it in years past.
Beasley will go second. I am really hoping the Bulls just get lucky in the Lottery because I am affraid of what kind of trade Paxson might pull off if we pick nine. Infact I am just really scared of any move Paxson makes at this point. He is taking way to long to hire a coach. What gives?
