My take on the Mavs

Well before the trade, Diop's playing time had been going down because of how much Bass was showing up. I figured the Mav's would ship him off in free agency, but then he got traded as part of the Kidd deal. I really don't think the Mavs are going to pay more just to get him back.

The Mavs are already over the cap and have a lot of empty roster holes from contracts running out this season. After Josh's Most Disappearing Player act in the playoffs this year, I can see him being the one sent off. Mostly because he's young, still has great upside, and can bring in several players for just him. Cuban isn't going to want to sign a ton of free agents and have to owe the league even more cash. Of course, if the season winds up in the tank, he can always ship off Kidd again and that'll clear up a ton of cash for the season after next.
