For any Dolphins, Steelers, Browns, Ravens, Cowboys, Eagles, etc fans who are thinking about writing some smart-a$$ remark about Bengals getting arrested, please do us a favor and visit this website first:
http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/nfl/arrests.html
Here you will find a host of interesting facts like:
- in the past nine months there have 5 Jags arrested; or
- 3 Vikings have been arrested, and there are additional charges against Darrion Scott, AND they traded for a guys with 2 DUIs
- of the 10 Bengals players arrested in the past, 6 are no longer with the team...meaning the Bengals have on their roster 4 players who have been arrested...which is less than several teams, like Pittsburgh, Jax, Minn, and others.
- this all started with Chris Henry's arrest on 12/15/05. Since then the Bengals have had 10 players arrested. In that same period of time the Dolphins had 8 players arrested, the Vikings have had 11 players arrested (side note: Bryant McKinnie has been arrested 4 times, but I have yet to hear any outrage about the lawless Vikings); the Steelers have had 8 players arrested; the Chargers had 9 players arrested; the Bears had 7 players arrested; etc. I'm not saying the Bengals are innocent or being treated unfairly, I'm just saying that the Bengals are no better or worse than a lot of other teams out there in terms of player behavior and run-ins with the law. I also want to emphasize that it is inaccurate to categorize the Bengals as "bunch of criminals" seeing as how they've gotten rid of a lot of the bad characters, and those players who have been arrested who are still with the team have served their penalties and suspensions without further incidents.
