*&$#&#!!!

Well, I have a feeling I may end up being the minority on this one...

That said, I don't think you're missing the boat, but the Gaddy 'situation' supports my position.  Yes, Gaddy is still committed (verbally), but was really impacted by the loss of Pastner and Simon, the two who headed up his recruitment.  He and his parents toured McKale during the Cactus Classic this past weekend, and his parents still love UA, but say the decision will still be Abdul's...  I think he'll remain committed, but as was discussed in an earlier thread, recruiting is a dirty business and you can bet that he's being pursued by other schools right now.  If we have a successful season, Gaddy stays (or recommits, if he were to decommit) and other recruits come.  If we suck, Gaddy bolts, and that just sends another message to potential recruits.

Speaking of the Cactus Classic, there's not a much better recruiting tool.  Get the kids into McKale, give them a chance to see the campus (and the women!) and the city at a time the weather is awesome.  It came at a good time this year...

The point I started out to make but didn't address well enough was that there have been different seasons that have been the most critical in its own regard to the success of the program. Arizona wouldn't have gotten to the point they are now without some important seasons in the past. But those were critical for building the program. This upcoming season is the most critical in maintaining the position the program has risen to.
