I love a little competition.  I noticed over the last couple of weeks that UK has offered Peyton Siva and Deshawn Painter, 2 highly recruited UofL prospects.  Now I see that Rick Pitino is putting the full court press on Rivals #1 John Wall.  Here is a little of what Wall had to say about Uk, UofL and IU's involvment in his recruiting.........

UK, IU and U of L after Rivals new No. 1

The 6-foot-4 Wall is being courted by a ton of schools but has already made several trips to Lexington and told me recently that U of L has started to show string interest. He's also been offered a scholarship and is being courted by IU.

"Everybody is still in the mix right now," said Wall, who mentioned all three schools along with a handful of others in the interview with The Courier-Journal. "It's kind of hard because there are so many schools, but I am wide open."

Wall said Florida State, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Duke, Virginia Tech, Kansas, Miami and U of L have been showing him the most interest lately. He said UK, IU, Memphis, Baylor, N.C. State and Ohio State are among the other schools still in the mix.

The interest from U of L has come in the past month or so and Wall said playing for coach Rick Pitino would be a drawing card.

"I watched their game against (North) Carolina and it was a good one," Wall said. "They have said they're going to recruit me hard. I have heard a lot of good things about coach Pitino."

Wall said UK is still in the picture and said he has enjoyed his visits to Lexington.

"I liked it a lot," Wall said. "Like I said, everybody is still in the mix."
I think Pitino might be trying to put a little pressure on Siva to commit, but either way I will be pleased.  Now that Tubby is gone, and BCG going after everybody, we should have some heated recruiting battles to look forward to .  I love it.

Well, that is a really nice article, you can pretty much send Wall to Memphis to be a one n done.

We definately need more depth inside but if liggins is as good as some think he is we may not even need wall that much...with that said it is always nice to land the #1 player in the nation

UKforever1, you are dead on with that.  He reminds me of Rose.  I just hope we turned up the heat on Siva by going after Wall.  Siva is who I really want.  He was moved up to a 5 star in rivals new rankings.

i dont know why you guys wouldnt want a one-and-done.  I mean, if he can get us a NC, i dont think you guys would complain about him leaving.  PLUS, he'll leave after one year, and so his spot will be filled.  All of the people being recruited by us during wall's freshman year will know that he is leaving and so they will know that his starting spot will be open.

In some cases one-and-dones suck.  But i think overall, one-and-dones arent "too" bad.  I would love to have wall.

One and dones are usually fine. By definition, they are guys who come in and produce at a high level, or they wouldn't have the ability to jump to the NBA after just that one year. If they didn't produce during that one year, their stock would drop and they would normally stay until it goes back up. Rex Chapman & Jamaal Mashburn both left early and I still think highly of their time at UK. The only real problem I have with some, OJ Mayo type, one and done players, is that they care nothing about the school, the rules and don't care if they break them all and leave the school behind in a bind, while they go on about their lives and car shop for their first Ferrari.

The best part,  for any team that lands John Wall, would be to take the #1 player in the nation out of North Carolina and away frum UNC and Duck.
