Shadow, I figured you would respond with the same old BS you always say on this message board. He lied, he mislead, he is a crook, etc. Stop whining. Business is business. Not all business in this world is fair. As it stated in this mornings newspaper, nobody in Seattle cried when GM closed their plant in OKC. As nobody cried in OKC when Boeing left Seattle for Chicago. The relocation of the team to OKC pales in comparison to those businesses moving. So, as I said business is business. It is easy for Seattle fans to blame Bennett, Stern, and whoever else. I would bet that given the same chance, most people would do the same thing. And those that would'nt, are not smart business people. There is no doubt that it is a bad situation, but it seems that the blame should not rest on Bennett,s shoulder alone. If he lied to the people of Seattle, that is unfortunate. He has not lied to us, and until he does, he is just fine with me. He and his inlaws have done many great things for the people of Oklahoma, and will continue to do so. Bennett seems to be a doer, not just a talker. He gets things done, and that is why he has the support of many Oklahomans.
the Boeing comparison is idiotic dude, first Boeing just moved their headquarters to Chicago (a bigger market) because they decided to go global, they didnt lay anyone off because of it, we still have all the plants here and thousands of jobs..Boeing didnt pack up a leave they just took their main office to another city because Seattle isnt an attractive location if you are going to globalize your company considering all that happened with the WTO fiasco, and he has lied to you guys and if Schultz wins the lawsuit OKC has a good lawsuit case against him for fraud with the lease he signed in OKC which technically is illegal to have a coinciding lease for the same entity, seeing as the Sonics are obligated by law to play their home games in Seattle until 2010 and his lease agreement starts before 2010 to play home games in OKC and he would also be fradulant when it comes to how much money OKC spent in the upgrades to a stadium he all but guaranteed would have a NBA tenant...Bennett lied to us granted but what was he going to do really hes not from here, is still ignorant to this area, has no right to be here as he has done nothing to help the community except piss us off, insult us, piss away our franchise and get rid of fan favorites for scrubs that have no business in the NBA, but his fault is for signing a contract and not living up to it..once again I do not know who his lawyers are but they should be fired and disbarred for the advice and obviously misleading their client and his rights when it comes to the signing of the legal binding contract...Seattle shouldnt blame him for wanting the team in OKC, the only thing we should blame him for is the way he has insulted our intelligence with finding the most creative ways to lie known to man
the lease he signed in OKC which technically is illegal to have a coinciding lease for the same entity, seeing as the Sonics are obligated by law to play their home games in Seattle until 2010 and his lease agreement starts before 2010
Talk about not knowing facts, the lease states they would start playing no later that 2010.
I respond to the same old BS you spew forth. That somehow the elected leaders in this state don't care which is pure crap. Had they capitulated to that moron's (Bennett) idiotic demands, there would have been a major call for every elected officials heads. But you've been fed a huge line of pure, unadulterated bullsh!t and swallowed it all hook, line and sinker. In short, Bennett and Stern have lied to everyone almost non-stop since they screwed this whole deal up. And none of your rationalizations will change that. Try looking past all the smoke and mirrors and see the truth and you'll find you'll get a lot more positive responses here. Or, you can continue to try to spoon-feed us a constant line of garbage and find yourself reviled more and more. It's your choice, nobody can make it for you.
the elected leaders in this state do not care, they have shown it..not because they havent approved anything because they simply will not let it go to a vote, which is should because its not up to them, its up to the people considering its already a publically funded arena, they wouldve been dumb to fork over 500 million but is it really that much to ask to use the extra money from the Safeco Field and Qwest Field taxes that last until 2016 but estimations have them being paid completely by 2012, use that money which will not cost citizens another dime and except the Balmer group proposal of 150 million gifted money, is it that freaking hard to say wow this is a good deal and we should at least allow the people (who they should be caring about but some of the laws they have recently made do not seem to have alot citizens best interest in mind) to vote, whether approved or denied it is not the governors or house speaker or any representitives job to make decisions completely for us when we have a democracy for a reason, its up the people especially when it comes to spending money that we are already paying for, for stadiums that we were told we are paying for an extra 4 years, so its our extra 4 years of money so it should be used to what the majority of the population would vote for, sports related or not, it still should go to a vote, not them sitting on their hands hoping someone else will take care of it..just as Nichols was doing when he first negotiated with Bennetts group about a buyout as he did not even ask the people of Seattle was their opinions were or what they thought their best interests were he just did it until he felt the utter backlash he was getting from the press and citizens, its idiotic that the government can sit there and debate for months on stupid issues such as the stripper rules, not being allowed to play tag at recess, outlawing online poker yet they cannot, taking in all these laws that make it hard to have little fun we take for granted because just to appease the left wing liberals (who have donated millions of dollars to making it a democratic house) yet not even discuss or allow peoples opinion on left over money that was intended for sporting use? come on is that the kind of so responsible leadership you really want running your state or the great city of Seattle, and public officials agreeing with the stupid liberal comments about how the NBA does not affect or stimulate the economy is idiotic, the NBA is the main attraction at the center of the city, without the NBA the Seattle Center dies, alot people like coming to the EMP but do you really think that there are that many tourists who go there then go spend their money on surrounding stores, the science center and other interested places, especially now that the T-birds are out of the Key what is left to even keep the Seattle Center alive, wow the Space Needle and the EMP, those are not enough of a tourist attractions and definetly not something citizens of Seattle are jumping all over to go up the needle or go in the EMP after 4 or 5 times those places are boring
