Ok I'm sure this question will come up over the season, and into next season.  But how do you guys feel about the Tejada trade?  I got into a very long and length post conversation that was mostly a bash on me, but I stood tall and stood my ground.  I have commentary on this but I want to think what some of you have to say.  And please try not to be too biased towards the Astros.  I just want to make sure I'm grounded and down on earth in my thinking.

(BTW it was your post you started HOTPEPPERPIE, it somehow ended up being placed on the Orioles team page.  Man I got shelled, but I stood firm.)

Dude, you are beat'in a dead horse. That trade is done and gone. Tejada ia an Astro and apparently , a happy one. Not exactly any new breaking information to discuss. Give it a rest ! Peace. Go Stros.

just went and read the thread..you did take your lumps..

was a suspect trade ..to give up a couple young arms for a potentially over the hill player..but so far.. Tejada has been perfect for the stros so far ..and i like the trade..

I don't want it to sound like I've deleloped vision after the fact, but I've been on board with all three trades (Phillies, D-backs and Orioles) and signing Kaz from the get go. There are no guatantees in life, but the main reason I've been so critical of Dobrow is that with a core of Berkman, Lee, Pence and Oswalt, I felt that the 'Stros had great stars, they just needed a better supporting cast. Looks like we may have added a few more stars. As far as what we gave up, Qualls was the only one I hated to see go, but we've got to have a reliable closer, Lidge was too much of a head case and Wheeler didn't seem suited for the role. Scott was inconsistent & the pitchers we gave up were inning eaters, no real stars YET.  Maybe they will be one day, but maybe not. Miggy is producing like he's been reborn, if he stays in this form for 2-3 years or more, we punked the O's. But it really doesn't matter who won the trade, it seems like we got what we needed and if the O's did also, then maybe we'll settle this in the Series.

Hhahah Dreamer....funny how you mentioned it...it was last night that I read your posts on Baltimore's team page.  Yes and you got shelled and you should have.  Nobody's team wants to admit that you made a bad trade or not.

All you can do is analyzed.  I personally think we got a bad end of the trade at the beginning of the seaon.  I felt we gave up too much in pitching (especially we don't have a lot of pitching prospects in the farm left) for Tejada (with a lot of uncertainties).  The good thing is we somewhat know what type of player Tejada is and that is consistency.  I personally would take that any day over power hitters that bat around .250 or below hence Jason Lane.  Also, the players that we gave up were unproven at the MLB level.  Waiting for them to develop would cost you less but if you're looking to win "NOW" you would make a trade.  However, if you are willing to wait and be patience, you would put together a bunch of talents that all come up at once (look at the Marlins) and develop them into a cheap championship team.  That's why I just love the Marlins, they are very patience and smart.  I praise their organization.

Back to the topic, I still think we shouldn't make the trade but seeing Tejeda playing well not being injured and not get banned by the steroid allegation, I guess that's a great bonus to the trade.

Kansas - Ouch man pour out the Haterade bro.  I only asked to see what the Astro fans thought.  I had some people at work bring it up and of course I had something to say.  I wanted to see if I needed to go back and repent of the "evil" things I said.  Man didn't expect to get flamed here.

Godly - I agree that I did push my point.  I will say this, I didn't go to their board looking for a fight.  The post was made on a Tejada story that eventually got stuck on the Baltimore website.  I really thought, not being bias, that we got the best end of the deal even with all the bad crap Miggy was into.  First off our legal system is soooo slow.  I represent a law firm as their advertiser, and they complain all the time how long it takes to get stuff done.  WIth that being said, I knew Miggy would have nothing done this year and perhaps even until the middle of next year, if anything happens.  And I didn't value any of those players much at all, especially after Patton went down for the season with an arm injury, which he had to have surgery on this year...and will probably never be the same.  The torn labrum, is baseball most feared injury as a pitcher, go ahead and google it.  He was the cornerstone of the trade, and the rest was fluff.  But like I mentioned in the other forum boards, i really do in my heart hope these guys do well.  I really did like Albers and Scott, but I think it's only because I got to see them play so much at Round Rock.  I will agree that the Marlins have a great farm system and I hope that Ed Wade gets us even close to that.

Booger - thanks for your comments.

And Astromanic - I almost cried when I read your post.  That's all I was trying to say.  Maybe I got distracted by the attacks and flames and lumps I was taking on, but that's all I was trying to say.

I was on board too with all those trades, from the begining.  The players that we had on the major league club had to go, both for them and for the club.  I'm happy Lidge is doing well, but he had to go.  I hope the rest do well.  And I hope Ed Wade gets us a farm system like he build in Philly.  Your post is all I was trying to say...and some how it turned into a 2-3 day bash fest....lol that I wouldn't back down on.

No haterade dudeage... just a little shocked to see a thread so blatently out of place. Tejada is a perfect fit so far. There might have been some growing pains (and some still to come) but he is far better than anything we gave up. I think Baltimore is just glad to be rid of him...sale or no sale. We did not lose anything and Baltimore did not gain anything. I dont get the whole flame anology. My post was fairly docile compared to what others think.

I loved the post that boasted of the O's playing in the "superior" American League in probably the toughest division. Your chances of winning a world championship increase exponentially by getting to the Series. All things considered, year in and year out, the Astros have an easier road to that destination. In five years, the O's will lucky to be competing for second place in thier division. I'm so jealous.

Dreamer - I understand what you were tring to convey when you were posting on the O's website.  I'm just saying that you shouldn't feel bad for anything since it was your opinion and they were being well...being fan.  I guess what I"m trying to tell you is that...you have guts to go on their websites and express your thoughts...but you should expect people take things out of context and there are people who will try to pic
