I know that often people laugh at Cub fans, often because they really arent fans. Most Cub fans just do it because it popular and it really gives true fans a bad name. I just hate when I hear "Cub fans are so stupid" and things like that which neglect the millions of true BASEBALL fans. On ESPN radio saturday morning somebody said "its a shame what wrigley field has come to, it used to be a great place to watch a game", and yesterday when somebody ran on the field in the middle of an atbat it was never more obvious. It just a shame that im 21 and might never to be able to enjoy another game at the friendly confines.
I have no lcue what you're trying to say here, and if some idiot running onto the filed ruins your experience at a baseball game, then I'm guessing you weren't really ahving all that much fun to start with?
Do not let the actions of idiots, intetrfere with your fun of the game, or here's a better one, GET OVER IT!

Well people running on the field happens everywhere, i was just saying that reminded me everything people say about Cub fans. Would you want to take a 10 year old to a game a wrigley? When i was younger I went to about 15 games a year and many times i had beer get on me, and saw fights which honestly doesnt bother me because people go to have fun, and i had a lot of fun also.
My point in all this is Cub fans are often generalized as all being drunks who go to have fun and not really worry about the game and i just think its sad that it might be true. Not all Cub fans, but a lot.
If you go to the park to have fun, you mean to tell me some drunk is going to prevent you from having fun? When I have a son, I have every intention of taking to him to Cubs games. I don't care what types of peope are there. I've been to stadiums all over this country, unless you're in Florida, or Pittsburgh, where there's literally 17 people in the aprk, it's the same everywhere.
Stop your belly aching, it happens at every park, there are drunks at every park, there are idiots at every park, and there are fans at every single park in baseball. No need to get your panties in a bunch about it.
You think Boston or New York, or the Cell is any better, not so much.
Listen dude if you dont agree with me thats fine but dont act like im being stupid for an opinion that ive heard many people agree with. The fact that ive heard it so much is why im talking about it.
I have no problem with people going to the game to have acouple drinks and do whatever, ive done the same. My only concern is that wrigley field is become less and less a place to enjoy a baseball game. Its cool if you dont feel the same, but
First of all, don't think Wrigley is being singled out regarding the fans on the field. It happens at every baseball venue. What you have to understand is that ESPN is not the local source for baseball in our area and therefore they are in competition with the stations that do broadcast the games, namely WGN and WMAQ. Its in ESPN's best interest to downgrade anything connected with the Cubs and WGN so people turn it off and listen to them.
The #1 rated radio station in Chicago is WGN and has been for years, largely due to the Cubs broadcasts. ESPN deals with this the only way they know and that is to make people believe the Cubs' product is inferior and that there is something wrong with it. I've been going to Cubs games for 50 years and have been a season ticket holder for over 20. I have also visited othe ball parks. If you think what happens in Wrigley is bad, don't go to Fenway or Yankee Stadium because I've seen worse things happen there. Don't go to the Cell or Miller Park because I've see it worse there too.
Amen math teacher, I'm not exactly sure what this guy was expecting, or even what the point of this was, yes baseball stadiums tend to get a little rowdy, and Wrigley is no different than any other park.
The fans at the Soxs games are the fans that can't get tickets for the Cubs,so they have to settle for 2nd best. When has anybody or anyone on ESPN got anything right, their just like CNN,they only want to report the negative in something.Dude I hate to tell ya,rowdiness, drunkeness and fights goes on everywhere,I've seen people get maced, pepper sprayed and tazzered for acting stupid, but it didn't affect me one bit in having fun,the only thing that takes some off the fun outta the game is the ridiculous price to take a family to attend a game, back in the mid to late 80's I could attend a game in cincy and buy a field level ticket,a pop,a pretzel and a hot dog for right around $15.As far as the people running on the field goes, they think their entertaining the fans by running around on the field, but whats entertaining about it, is watching the local cops beat the crap outta them.
I have to chime in here. I have been to Wrigley many times in my short 30 years and I will tell you that each visit has been a wonderful experience. I look forward to the day my son is old enough to go to a game with me so he can see the all the things that make Wrigley a special place to see a ball game. I am not worried about beer being spilled because I have never seen that happen while I have been at a game. i am sure it does but i have yet to see it. I am not afraid of the language in the stands because it wouldn't be any different than what is said in TV shows. If you are going to bash Cub fans and Wrigley field then by all means bash every city and ballpark that baseball is played in because people are people and things will happen no matter where you see a game.
When i said ESPN radio i meant ESPN radio in chicago. Two shows I like a lot, waddle and silvy and MJH both discussed the topic. I guess you guys dont share the same opinion but many baseball people do. I dont think im shocking anybody when i say most cub fans are viewed very poorly, i was just throwing out an idea on why that is.
Your clueless, Cub fans are supporting a team that has not won in 100 years, so they are not fans to be popular. Fans are usually created because it was handed down to them from generation after generation, or else they would have the attendance of the Marlins. Most Cub fans are huge baseball fans who have tremendous respect for the game. We have several traditions, Harah Carey - 7th inning stretch, throwing homeruns back, "hey hey chicago is gonna win today", the ivy, the scoreboard, and probably the 3rd highest fan base behind Yankees, and redsox. The Red Sox fans before they won were the same as cub fans, standing behind their team no matter what happens.
Don't believe everything you hear from others. True enough, there is more booing and caring on than in previous years, but on the whole, Cub fans are the most loyal and well behaved in baseball. There have been many more occurances at other parks that are much worse than a fan runinng out on the field. I agree that it was stupid and has no business at Wrigley or any other field in baseball. Real fans can distinguish the difference between fans and idiots.
