So the year is not over yet, but I would like to already start talking about next year and how we can improve the the team. What are the free-agents next year that we can get our hands on? We NEED another rebounder, and I personally would like a shooting guard. Point guard is another thing people are talking about but I happen to like Nelson and I think he has shown great potential this series.

I agree, if Nelson can show consistancy than he's our man. We need to get a solid PF to start. Then have Turk and Lewis at the 2 and 3. The Magic are damn close to being a solid playoff team for yearsto come!

I don't necesarily think that we'll have to spend to much in free agency this offseason. Tony Battie will be back and healthy which will add a solid rebounder and defender at the 4. Marcin Gortat showed flashes and could possibly develop into a bachip 4. If we could also get Fran Vazquez finally over here we could possibly get a nice high and low game going with him and Dwight Howard. Depending on what Carlos Arroyo, Keyon Dooling, and Maurice Evans do after their contracts expire we should consider some new guards. Jameer's been improving every year and he just signed an extension. He isn't going anywhere soon.

I THINK WE NEED A GOOD POINT GAURD NELSON IS A GOOD PLAYER DONT GET ME WRONG BUT IF U LOOK AT THESE GAURDS IN THE EAST THEY ARE BIG GAURDS BUT IF NELSON IS THE RIGHT GUY THEN WE NEED A GOOD BACK UP CENTER AND A TWO GAURD TO START BUT FOR WHAT I THINK THEY WILL DO IS HAVE TURK PLAY THE 2 LEWIS PLAY THE 3 TONY AT THE 4 AND D12 AT THE CENTER SO I LIKE THAT LINEUP SO I THINK WE WILL BE OK IN THE LONG RUN

The Magic should draft someone. like a chris douglas roberts or a brandon rush. Mock drafts i have seen have them still being around at 22.
get a Power Forward. let lewis play sf
and turk play sg
nelson pg (Way to choke on that FT)

Is Brand going to be a free-agent next year? I know he was injured almost all this year but he is a very good player that would solidify us as an elite team.

We'd have the best big 4 in basketball.
I am a Florida boy, so i would love to see Mareesse Speights wearing the baby blue. He's 6-11 and 245 with a very solid jumper and was rebounding like a freak at the end of the season including his best, last game with 16 boards. I love this kid. Here's my line-up wit back-ups for next year
PG-
- Jameer
- Dooling
SG-
- Turk
- Bogans
- Reddick
SF
- Rashard
PF-
- Tony
- Speights
- Augustine
C-
- Superman
- Foyle
- Gortat
A little thin at 3, but Turk and Bogans can both play their and Dooling can play two. Speights' jumper makes him a possibility at three if his condtitioning gets better and he gains some agility.
I love Jameer. He has been great this post-season and I really hope he continues. No guard other than Chauncey has really dominated him. He kindu got back at Ford/Calderon
What are the FA's out there and do we have the cap room?

I don't know about Cap room but I just read that Michael Redd, Rip Hamilton and Gilbert Arenas are all free-agents next year.

Hey, I'm not a usual commenter here, but I am a big Magic fan because I lived about 45 min of Orlando a couple of years ago.
Anyways, with that being said. I think another power forward would be good for the Magic. I like the idea of having Turk be a 3 and Lewis a 2. You know how hard that would be to guard on a nightly basis?
I'm not sure about where the Magic are in the draft (projected) and I am not sure who will be a free agent next year for the other teams, but here is an idea. Let go of some of the dead weight and get some fresh healthy talent.
For instance, let Pat Garrity go, I know he has been there for years and is a fan favorite but he hasnt played except for in blow outs and thats only when he isnt hurt. Let him go. Also, Tony Battie? He is good, when he is healthy, but he is never healthy. You need a scoring threat that is a good rebounder. Tony Battie is only a good rebounder.
Either get a good PF and let Howard be a center or vice versa and let Howard be a PF and get a good Center.
The free agents for the Magic this offseason will be:
Arroyo (resign), Augustine (let go),
Bogans (resign, he's too good, but thats coming from a KY fan),
Dooling (resign),
Evans (resign)
Foyle (let go)
Garrity (let go).
Possible Free Agents that would go well with Orlando:
Kelenna Azubuike (get another KY boy, him and Bogans will work really well together, plus Kelenna is a great shooter and hustles).
Jermaine O'Neal - enough said.
Elton Brand
Alonzo Mourning - he'll retire soon and doubt he would leave Miami for Orlando, but a great pick up, possibly.
Robert Horry - Big Shot Bob could have hit a big shot vs. Detroit the other night.
Sorry its a book guys, I hate reading long posts, but I spread it out so its easier to read the names. Thats my imput

Battie is still under contract for 5mil a year for 3 (i think?) more years. He would be hard to get rid of due to his unfavorable cap-to-age ratio.
Brand and O'neil are too expensive for us to get.
I know we like our Puerto Rican influence in Arroyo on the team, but he never picked up how to run the offense for this squad. Dooling did much better as a backup.
Gortat getting time in the playoffs all but solidifies the fact that Foyle will be gone this offseason. Adonyl is a really nice guy, but has just gotten too old.
Maurice played scared during most of the Pistons series. I really like having him start at 2 guard and his subpar performance during the playoffs may solidy our ability to resign him for 3 mil per year or so. I thought that he would be harder to keep during the regular season.
From the film I have seen, Fran is already slowing down a bit from the player he was 2 years ago. He has a sh$tty attitude and I really don't want him.

Brand would be a nice addition but I really don't think that its possible. i think the roster would look something like this:
1. Jameer Nelson, Carlos Arroyo
2. Hedo Turkgolu, Keyon Dooling, J.J. Reddick
3. Rashard Lewis, Maurice Evans
4. Tony Battie, Darell Arthur, Fran Vazquez
5. Dwight Howard, Marcin Gortat, James Augustine
If the bench can get developed by SVG so that there isn't that much of a drop in performance from the 1st squad to the 2nd squad, we'd be able to make a deeper run in the playoffs.

I DONT THINK BOTH CARLOS OR DOOLING WILL BE BACK ONE WILL AND MY THOUGHT IS THAT ITS GONNA BE DOOLING BECAUSE HE IS A BIGGER GAURD AND THAT HE IS PLAYING REAL WELL AT THAT SAID THE Magic WILL BE ALMOST THE SAME NEXT YEAR WITH THE ADD ON PLAYERS LIKE FRAN VAZQUEZ AND TONY COMEING BACK IS LIKE GETING A FREE AGENT BUT I DO THINK THEY WILL DRAFT A PF SO I THINK THE MAGIC WILL LOOK LIKE THIS
PG . Jameer Nelson , Keyon Dooling
SG. HEDO TURKGOLU, JJ REDDICK (IF NOT TRADED)
SF. Rashard Lewis,Maurice Evans
PF. Dwight Howard , FRAN VAZQUEZ, (DRAFT PICK)
C. Tony Battie ,Marcin Gortat ,JAMES AUGUSTIN
THIS IS WHAT I THINK THEY WILL LOOK LIKE BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN HEARING THEY WILL TRY TO TRADE JJ TO GET A HIGHER PICK OR BRING IN A VET AT PF OR C SO WE WILL SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN
GO MAGIC
