MVP recount please!!!

Good to see you are an arse on whichever board I find you on.  Kobe hater?  No.  I just don't believe that he is the best...even on your team.  When Fisher was out of tonight's game, the Lakers were lost, even with your MVP on the court.  What does that tell you?  He is OVER-RATED!!  He cries any time he doesn't get the call - even though he was the one initiating the contact.  Am I talking trash about the Lakers?  Absolutely not - they are a great team, now that they have a great point guard and a good center.  Kobe ran off the last big name center y'all had (in case you forgot about the Big Cactus) and was crying about how badly he wanted to leave, until Fisher turned the team around.  I am a huge Derek Fisher fan, I wish he could have stayed another year in Utah (but I understand his heart wasn't in Utah).

Kobe SUCKS!! He is way OVER-RATED!!  Let's hope that those who vote, get it right next year.

No problem sman, thanks for asking nicely.  You can take a little solace knowing that Pau and Fisher played a great part in that award - though it went to the wrong player.  Yes his stats were AMAZING, but take away Fish or Pau, then you lose 10 -15 games more than you did; you'd be out of the playoffs.  Kind of what Manu Ginobili did for the Spurs; without him, they'd be out.

I'm not saying Fisher should have won the MVP - but he IS the MVP of the Lakers.

I have you all wrong.  I thought you were an arse, but it isn't that at all.  You have a man crush on Kobe and got butt hurt that the Jazz evened things up.  Hey, I don't hold that against you, he's probably your favorite player; everyone has one.  You can't wear blinders though just because he's your fav.  He's not the best in the league, by any means; you would have to contend that he meant more to the Lakers than LeBron James meant to the Cavaliers, or more than Chris Paul did to the Hornets, or Manu Ginobili to the Spurs, or Deron Williams to the Jazz, or Kevin Garnett to the Celtics.  He doesn't even mean more to the Lakers than Derek Fisher or Pau Gasol.

First of all what are "arse" and "butt hurt" - not found in my dictionary, or book of idiomatic expressions - please clarify.

I do contend that Kobe means more to the Lakers than all those other guys you mentioned.  Do you think Derek signs with the Lakers if not for Kobe?  Do you think that Gasol's value is more pronounced wearing a Laker uniform than it is wealing a Grizzlies uniform in spite of similar stats?  Do you think that Andrew Bynum's meteoric development happens without Kobe's charge?  Kobe's MVP selection transcends statistics - it has to do with his value as a catalyst: Kobe is the unifying force of this team, whether he's on the floor or not.  The fact that he simply exists as a member of the LA Lakers allows everyone else on this team to realize their ultimate potential and fulfill their true destinies.  Do you think Derek Fisher realizes his potential backing up Deron Williams in Utah?  Do you think Lamar Odom is able to do all the things he does playing with the Miami Heat?  Do you think that the young core that forms the Lakers bench mob are able to perform at the high level that they do if not for the trust and confidence that Kobe has in each and every one of them?  The value of the "whole" that is this Laker team is greater than the some of its individual parts because of Kobe - he is the unique force that transforms these players, his teammates, into the cohesive unit that they are.  (Big props towards this end also have to go to the Phil Jackson and the Lakers coaching staff for their tutelage, and to Mitch Kupchak for getting these guys together in the first place.)

And, yes, I will admit that I have a very slight man-crush on Kobe.

Since you may be as big a Lakers fan as I am a Jazz fan, what is your honest opinion on this series?  I personally think this is the most exciting post season the NBA has seen in a long time; this series is great.  I am hoping this series goes 7 games and at least one more OT game.

Of course as a Jazz homer, I hope they win game 7 in OT on your court.  Just a fan thing.

My opinion is already a matter of record - Lakers in 6.  I think they win on Wednesday and figure out a way to close out, on the road (again - as they did in Denver) on Friday night.  If Kobe's status is at all in question (back), then all bets are off.

The Jazz are every bit the test and challenge I was hoping the Lakers would run into in this semifinal.  As much as I am a total Lakers homer, I have a tremendous amount of respect for Jerry Sloan and Deron Williams - the fact that a guy like Sloan is totally cool with allowing Williams to call all his own plays speaks volumes to just how good this kid is and to the brightness of his future.  I hate Mehmet Okur - if I see one more Laker defender leave this guy open on the perimeter with an open look I think I'm going to kill myself.

It's a great series in a great NBA post-season but, with all due respect to your Utah Jazz team, I see the Lakers advancing to face the Spurs in the WCF - which I think will go the full 7 games.

I'll have to respectfully agree to disagree with you on who makes it to the WCF.  I think the Hornets will beat the Spurs (I've been wrong before).  I don't know about this one; like I said previously, I hope the Jazz win it in 7 in OT.  No disrespect to LA, I just like the exciting series that this is shaping up to be.

I know I'm not changing anyone's mind on the Kobe MVP (It's already a matter of record).  I just wanted to piss y'all off.  It only worked for a couple of you.  For the most part the Lakers fan base has been classy.  But in your fan base you have the same as every other team; a couple morons that pull down the class value of the rest of the fan base.

Here's to an exciting series!  Derek Fisher is the man.  Kobe Bryant stole the MVP.  GO JAZZ!!
