To the handful of Brewers fans that wanted to believe their team didn't waste $10 million on a used up shell of a big name closer, my heart goes out to you, even those of you that elected to ignore the obvious a few weeks ago and told me to hold my tongue while Gagger "worked it out". Well, you had fair warning. Now the idea's apparently starting to sink in that if Milwaukee had a half-competent closer from the start, they'd be on top of their division right now. The only silver lining to the Gagne deal is that it's only for one year, although I doubt any other team would have even offered him half the money the Brewers are giving him. With My Man Derrick Turnbow out of the picture for good, the choice seems clear that the only way for Milwaukee to salvage their season is to bring back Danny Kolb.
