If there was an 8 team playoff last year, tell WVU fans that game vs Pitt would have not have mattered.

It depends on what teams are included in an 8 team playoff.  Given the current opposition to a 4 team playoff, it is doubtful we will ever see an 8 team playoff that does NOT include ALL the  BIG 6 conference champs.

Since WVU had already clinched the BIG EAST championship, the PITT game would have been totally meaningless, in an 8 team playoff with all the BIG 6 champs qualifying.

Much is the case with a game like the OSU and USC.  Would anyone care, or watch?  It would have no bearing on making the 8 team playoff.  The loser will still have a chance to make the playoff, and the winner gets no big advantage.  They may have bragging rights,  but other than seeding  down the road, both  teams move on to more important games, namely conference match-ups.
