Hansbrough, Frasor Face Backlash Over Jumping Off Balcony at Frat Party

One of the buzzing stories around the internets are some photos of UNC players Tyler Hansbrough and Bobby Frasor jumping off a balcony and into a pool. The pictures were taken at a SAE frat house and show both Psycho T and Frasor (close friends) at a party, jumping off a building into a large, inflatable pool.

Right now, they are getting a lot of heat (and some love) over the stunt on message boards and blogs.

Yes, these kinds of things go on at colleges. Anyone who's been in college has seen or participated in some stupid stuff ... especially once the spring semester ends and everyone is looking forward to a summer off. These guys are student-athletes and they have the same academic pressures as the rest of the student body.

However, these two are in college because of their physical gifts. Seeing Frasor up there was puzzling. He missed most of the past season after tearing up his knee. If Ty Lawson stays in the NBA Draft, Frasor inherits this team and will be counted on heavily. Seems like jumping off a balcony and into a pool isn't the best way to rehab that injury.

As for Hansbrough, I'm sure it just adds to his "Psycho T" legend. However, it is dumb for the defending Player of the Year to spend the offseason leaping off stuff like that. Whether he will be successful in the NBA or not, some team will draft him and, in turn, pay him lots and lots of money. It's really scary that he would risk all of that for his "I am a golden god" moment.

I personally think that people should let them be kids or young adults.  Without question, it was dumb for them to do things like that, but they must be left alone to make mistakes and learn from them without too much critizism.  Fans these days focus too much on how a team will do instead of taking into consideration each player of the team and what happens to them in certain cases or situations.  Moreover, like in the situation of Green, Ellington, Lawson opting to test the waters (I don't want any to go), People need to look at the situation from a players perspective and see it from a "Player Paradigm," what is best for them.  Fans just can't stand when players declare early or players do things foolish because it may jeopodize the upcoming season.... People need to relax and let kids be kids and the players decide what is best for them without hearing negative critizism....

Just my thoughts...

i was more surprised at frasor doing it, being that he recently had acl surgery. i guess thats as good as any  way to test the ol' knee and make sure its ready for next year.

i find the whole thing kind of funny too, they need to be kids. however, i am sure we would all think alot differently about it if one of them would have gotten hurt.

I personally dont think it is that big of a deal.  Lets remember they are still kids and they are still in school.  Alot of people do dumb things in college, why should this be such a big deal?  Im sure Frasor and Hansbporough were probably not the only two people that jumped.  I can see where people will give them a hard time because they are two of the tarheel stars and this coming up season may rely alot on them.  Also their futures may have been changed if one of them wouldve gotten hurt and couldnt have been able to play.  My thoughts are that they are kids having fun if they want to jump off balconies then do it, you only live once and you should have fun doing it.  Who really knows how long you have to live here on earth?  you cant always live for tomorrow because there might not be a tomorrow... JUST LET THEM BE KIDS HAVING FUN!!!!

Judging by the pictures, that wasn't very high up and is something I would do any day and not think twice about it, and I don't like to get hurt nor do I like heights. Non story, unless they were drunk and missed the pool.

I don't see anything wrong with what they did, except that it was done in a public setting and they got "caught" doing what thousands (millions?) of other kids would do at that age.  If they weren't playing at UNC, no one would notice or care.

At my alma mater, the University of North Texas, we would love to have the publicity!

it didnt even look all too dangerous.

we dont own these guys.

if anyone has a right to be upset at them its roy and their teammates, not us.

they can do whatever it is they need to do to enjoy their college experience so that they can win basketball games.

They are lucky they didn't get hurt.  I have done crazier things than that while being a college athlete.  I know from experience that once you tare the ACL it can easily be torn again.  It's all in fun but be careful.  Freak accidents happen.
