They're creating, they're passsing well, they're being aggressive, they're even back checking well.

BUT THE DEFENSE????? They're looking kind of..... I don't know. I guess the word I'm looking for is..... CLUELESS! It's early. But they need to step it up. That CAN'T get caught standing there, with the puck directly behind them, looking around. They need to be ALOT more alert. Like during the Joffrey Lupul goal they just allowed. Sidney Crosby answers though.

The Penguins are relentless. It seems no matter how many goals the Flyers score. The Pens refuse to go down. Like the BEAUTILFUL goal just scored by Evgeni Malkin with seconds to go in the first. 3-2 Pens.

Pengo,  I had to check the date on your post because I thought after the first period the defense was stellar! I don't know, maybe I don't know what defense in hockey is. I always consider "all" the players when I talk about defense in hockey because when the other team has the puck it's everyones' job to get it back. So if a forward makes a nice back-check I consider that defense. Am I wrong when thinking that? If I am, never mind. lol

Well Pgh_oldhead..... I agree. AND I disagree. You're talking about defense played by any player on the team. I wrote this post only minutes into the first period of game one. And I was refering strictly to the play of our defensemen in (probably) the first half of the period. So I wasn't really refering to our defense as a whole. Just a couple of players who looked like they didn't know where they were, with the puck sitting directly behind them. (In our own zone no less). My bad. Sorry about that. I should have been a little more specific. But you're absolutely right. Defense is a team effort.
