Have you ever heard of overcompensating? They're probably just putting on this aggressive front to obscure the pitiful, lonely, and pathetic self that exists within those moments of failure that is a Vikings trademark. I am sure that they cry themselves to sleep but, to appear more "manly", post confident and bold statements about their teams. Yes they are jealous, but they are also like bullies: they are insecure and resort to delusional rants to gain attention. Like I said: overcompensating.
And, no, I am not implying any other definition of that word. It is just a fans prerogative. Any fan has the right to be as annoying and arrogant as he or she pleases, but it's the big ones who respond with logic and thoughtfulness. That doesn't mean trash talking is not allowed, but let's face it, the insecure ones are usually the loudest. They are the ones who have something to prove.
