Given their bench the Red Sox should rest him and put Youk in the 3 spot.  He is tearing it up right now and you still have Crisp, Ellsbury platooning in center so one of them could take Youk's spot in the batting order. 

I know they don't bring the power of an Ortiz but the possiblity of not having Ortiz in the playoffs because they failed to let his knee heal appropriately would be a disaster.

Do the right thing and let his knee heal now.  There's enough talent on the bench to keep this team afloat.

Kevin Youkilis certainly has shown that he has the power and hitting capacity to hit 3rd. I don't see why the Red Sox could not put him in the 3rd spot a few games in order to give David Ortiz a rest, which is pretty obvious that he needs!
