JTJMAS- I guess you are saying UConn is smarter then Rutgers for taking the ND game. Thanks!  UConn will make alot of money for this. Its a great Job by UConn. You guys act like you guys are a Big Program.  Your Not.  Look I am a Rutgers Fan, and I live in NJ and I think Rutgers should of took the deal. ND's not going to play Rutgers at a stadium smaller then a stadium thats like 15-20 min away. Its going to be a brand new Stadium. Why wouldnt you want to play there. ND is also playing at the New Cowboys Stadium against ASU. ASU is a bigger program then you guys and they took a deal.  Just admit that Rutgers Screwed up. Its no big deal. Maybe you guys can beg to play us now.  Look good luck this year, im not a Rutgers hater. They are my 2nd Fav team.  I hope ND and Rutgers does great this year.  It would of been nice for them to play each other.

purguy12,

You're so misinformed it's hilarious.

First and foremost, the Meadlowlands is a 45 minute drive without traffic from Piscataway. On a game day, you're looking at not even coming close to making it there in that time.

Second, Rutgers would lose money on the deal. Not even just a little bit of money. They would lose a FORTUNE after you factor in things like lost advertising space (the owners of the stadium keep those rights on these deals), busses to bring the students the HOUR+ that it would take to get there on a game day, etc. With gas prices the way they are, we'd have to be stupid to take a deal like that, while gaining a net of maybe 5,000 tickets sold for us.

Third, the ASU and the RU situations are totally different. They would not be bussing kids into Dallas on game day. That's in essence an extra bowl game for them.

And finally, Rutgers is not UConn. We're going to have a 56,000+ seat stadium (plus $17,00 a pop luxury boxes) by the time the games would have been played. UConn's current stadium holds 18,000 at MAX CAPACITY.

I'd love for RU to play ND. I think it'd be a fun game. But I'm not willing to do so at the cost that Notre Dame is asking. That's a bush league deal. We have a good stadium. We're not UConn.

If Boston College's 40,000 seat stadium is good enough for you, why is RU's 56,000 one too small?

Typo. UConn's stadium holds 38,000 at max capacity, not 18, with 0 luxury boxes.
