I think this a case of Jazz fans doing what they do best: whining for absolutely no good reason. Far be it for them to just let go of a situation that didn't necessarily work out for them - to boo Derek Fisher for doing what he thought best for his family - for putting family before basketball - is to demonstrate a certain kind of classlessness that goes beyond reprehensible. I mean, just think about it...what on earth could one possibly hope to gain by booing Derek Fisher??? What possible good could ever come from that???
The only good that comes from booing Derek Fisher at the godforsaken Energy Solutions Arena is - ironically - reserved for Laker fans who can then reap the benefits of a re-energized, ruthless Laker team as they refocus that negative energy into ripping the collective throats out of the Jazz faithful.
Go ahead, boo Derek Fisher again tonight - I dare you!

Question...
How is it better for his family to tack on extra flight hours as they commute from NY to LA? I had no problem with it when I though the daughter was getting treatment in LA. I really don't see how this benefits the family at all. I guess the city of Salt Lake just wasn't good enough for the Fishers.
What I think is funny is how nobody recognizes the fact that the Jazz organization was understanding enough to let him out of his contract when we had absolutely no back-up for Williams. Have you ever heard of something like that before? Obviously this was a big hit on the team. ( I could be wrong but I thought the Jazz released him to sigh with the Knicks and then Fisher pulled a switch in the middle).
Classless on the Jazz side... I think not, it was quite the opposite. If you actually understood what took place I don't think you would have a problem.
Nobody booed him for making the best desision for his family, he was booed for ditching his team for a little convienance while slighting an entire city.

Last time I looked at a map New York is closer to SLC than LA, Fisher pulled a cheap stunt, however, one can look at this way, it was payback to the Jazz for when the hijacked Boozer out of Cleveland. One reaps what one sows.
Don't despair Jazz fans, this series has a long way to go, just hold service the next 2 games, then steal gaem 5 in LA.

Oh be still my beating heart...
Far be it from be to be picky here, but I don't hink Derek Fisher is the only person in the United States who has a sick child or family member.
I guess one of the differences between us is that I can't call up Phil Jackson and tell him that I don't think I can come in to work today because my wife is sick from radiation treatments, and the kids have a busy day.
Maybe Plaschke needs to come to my house and write an article.
Spare me. Everyone feels for the guy going through something tough. But you know what? Derrek Lee is too. Boomer Esiason. It is not new for an athlete to have challenges in his personal life with their children.
The new thing here is that he wormed his way out of his deal for reasons that were not just that challenge. I doubt that the boos are the worse thing to happen to him.

I will say that if more players in the league were like Derek Fisher it would be much, much better. He seems to be a good father and that is unfortunately something that is unique in a league full of unfaithful pigs (I won't give any examples). About your article, it is very one sided and I wonder how much Plaschke even looked into the Utah part of it. I'm sure the Fishers never even moved to Utah. The issue could have been handled fine had he upheld the contract. But the Jazz understood the situation and gave him the option. That speaks a lot of their organization. I don't think it was a bad choice but there are always consequence to actions. The Fans acted as Fanatics for their team (so sue us), the Jazz would be better with Derek Fisher, and it's as simple as that. The boo's only said that we wished he was with us but he ditched for a team we really don't like. Nothing personal, as I said, Fisher is obviously of a higher caliber than the majority of players in the league, inspite of ditching his team and his contract under questionable pretenses.
That said, I hope we uncork an ass wooping like you've never seen tonight.

MT47, that may be so, but that really doesn't seem like a good excuse for booing, maybe it's just me...I don't know...especially when all it really ends up doing is to make Kobe mad and go Pompeii on y'all's ass!
