I have always said it and just want to say it again, most of the Cell's staff is very friendly and helpful. I took my nearly one year old son to the game today for his first one. Nearly everybody was very helpful and nice to him. Except one idiot  (guest services jacket) near the exit close to home plate. I asked him if he could take a picture, it would take what 10 seconds, he was doing nothing at all, yet he told me to wait until after the half inning. I have my hands full and he just stands there, I wasnt blocking anyone or wanting anything special. There was really nobody in that section anyway. Just a lazy jerk, I walked over one section and the security guy offered and even said maybe you should move there is a shadow here. Very nice. I hope everybody else runs into everybody but the one lazy guy. The staff is very kid oriented and I encourage everybody to take the kids to the park. Unfortunately mine was a little too young to enjoy it, but it was a nice day. If you go to guest relations they print out a certificate of the kids first game. Its a very nice thing to do.

Nice post Dazed..  Being that I have to live in MD, albeit no choice of my own, Camden Yards is a real nice place and have very friendly staff.  I am sorry to hear that guy being a jerk and wouldn't take your pic with your kid and all, but some people are just plan aholes.  I am in the Navy and been to numerous parks.  Haven't had the pleasure of visiting the CELL yet, but when the Kingdome was in Seattle, they really didn't have the best people working there as well.  It sucks when you end up spending over 100 bucs to watch a game, you can't get friendly service; good thing the majority of parks have outstanding service.  Your always going to run into "those" types from time to time...

GO SOX!!!

My experience is usually great...with one exception.  When they want you out of there, that's it !  We have stayed after for fireworks sometimes, and then on the way out, tried to use the restrooms.  They very rudely told us that we had to leave....now.. and that we could use the outhouses outside.  I have no problem with this, but the women with me were a wee bit pissed.  On another occasion, we went down to the bullpen bar after the game.  We stayed about an hour, and the announcement came over that it was closing time.  We both hit the restroom on the way out.  My girlfriend came out, and said that a male Sox employee went into the women's room, and was yelling at the women inside that they had to get out NOW.   We did register this complaint.

If you sit in the same seats, the beer guys are always very cool , and our guy will even comp us a round from time to time.  Concession service can be slow sometimes, depending  on who ya get, but at least I can watch the game on TV (unlike Wrigley, where you completely miss the game if you go for a beer or a pee).   If you get there early enough, you get 2 for 1 hot dogs too !  3 out of 4 people who works there are great, a few are slow, and obviously, there is a jerk or two.

I am a transplanted White Sox fan who grew up in northwest Indiana but now lives in the suburbs of Indianapolis. I watch most of  the sox games on satellite, but my wife and i usually make it up to about 4-5 white sox games a summer. We have had nothing but good experiences at the cell (and I don't recall anything bad happening as a kid when my dad took me to the Commisky Park). Usually the staff and the fans are great. It is a shame you ran into a lazy idiot.

I think you are the jerk in this case.  Not everyone  " googles and goggles " over 1 year olds.  That's  the real reason you brought the kid to the game.  Don't bring the kid to another game until he is old enough to appreciate it.  He will have plenty of time to go see a ball game.

Besides, this is a baseball thread , I'm sure there are "blogs" about babies that you can voice your opinions on.

Hey Dazed, other people aren't obligated to take care of your 1 year old,   I think you were very rude to ask anyone to take the picture of you and your kid. Oh, your hands were full, that excuses you of your parental duties?  You are pathetic!   What if everyone brought their 1 year old to the game?  Your kid will never remember anyway.  The Cell isn't a Day Care Center.

Whoa, easy there DJ!!  All Dazed asked was for the guy to take a picture, and from my experiences at the Cell, this happens quite a bit.  I don't think Dazed was asking for much.

Hey Snowcat, from your responce it appears you are also an irresponcible parent who wants people to " google and goggle " over their child.

Workers at the Cell help out the parents only because they fear getting reprimended by their bosses when the selfish and ignorant parent tells on them because  their  poor little brat starts to cry.

One years old is far to young for a child to go to the ball park !   It's not only rude, the parents are being selfish because they ask someone to do something that they should be doing themselves and the main reason they are at the ball park is to see the game and brag about their little child.   What benefit of going to the game does the one year old have?  NONE !

Now that I explained that all to you, did you see Anderson's catch last night?  I think the vast majority of people would rather talk baseball on this board.

Well DJ, if you must know, I waited until my boys turned two until they went to their first game.  If that makes me "irresponsible," then so be it.  A LOT of parents, for one reason or another, take their small children to the ballgame.  And I'm sure that many parents wouldn't do that just to show off their kids.

Now I must reiterate, Dazed asked for the guy if he could take picture (a simple request).  I'm sure if he didn't have his hands full, I'm sure he wouldn't need anyone's assistance.  Asking someone for a favor doesn't constitute being rude.  But that is your opinion and you are welcome to it.

(steps off the soapbox)

Now, as for Anderson's catch, that was one of best plays of the year to me!!!  That catch saved Contreras from a potential big inning.

I wasn't exactly referring to Dazed or Yourself as irresponcble parents, I'mjust  making a general opinion of parents with young children, parents have to judge for themselves.

It's been my experience that parents do like to show of their child
