Tar Heels, he was designated for assignment, 1st base was his several times, when his fielding flubbed, his bat turned to stub and so they sent him down without anymore options I believe, I thought the farm club was buying him outright and it seems hes disappeared, but I'm not sure, I also believe he is the son of  the former knuckleballer, Phil Niekro, maybe he should of tried pitching ???????

You are correct SFFAN he is the son of Phil Neikro and also he was designated in spring training for assignment. The last I heard he was picked up by Pittsburg but Im not totally sure of that.

As a matter of fact, SFFAN, Neikro did throw a few games out of the bullpen and even started one or two games throwing the knuckelball. His father and uncle were both famous knuckelballers, and he can throw it fairly well. However , he was unsuccessful and ultimately went back to 1B.
