How do you guys feel about Garret Anderson?  At what point do you finally say he is not going to come out of this slump and sit him down more often, as he is a liability at the plate and defensively.  And I don't want to hear any excuses about his one home run last night.  I like the guy but we need to start getting more productivity out of that spot.  When does Scioscia finally make that tough decision to sit down a veteran and start getting more at bats for the likes of Willits and Rivera?

I would like to see Juan Rivera get those AB's...I think he'd be more consistent and more productive in the long run.

I have no excuses but I think he will break out...one thing I saw last night is he really had a long swing last night especially on the homerun. But GA is a 100% Angel and he deserves his chance to come out of a slump and he is getting that but he isnt starting every night now...most of the time but not every. Remember all of our OF's hate to DH much less sit. Either way we will be alright

You know what Brees, I think GA and Vladdy use the "I don't like to DH" thing as a crutch and it's getting old to me. We have a loaded outfield and Matthews is a better outfielder (defensively) than either of those guys EVER has been. They need to do what's best for the team and get their heads wrapped around being a productive DH. I know it takes time for a lot of guys to get used to, but for the good of the team, they need to start embracing that role...both are getting closer and closer to a full-time DH gig anyway.

As for Garret. I'm sure he'll have a hot stretch and everyone will think he's fine, and you're right, he deserves the chance to hit his way out of it. But at this point in his career, he just isn't a better option than Juan Rivera in my mind. The homer last night was nice, but a bit meaningless, as Aybar and Kotch already did the heavy lifting. Hopefully it gives GA some confidence though...we'll see.

As much as I lik eGA and what he has done for this organization, he is long past his prime and his numbers show it.  I have long been a fan of Rivera, and I think the Angels are nuts not givng him more at-bats.  This guy is a legit 25-30 hr guy with a .280 avg.  Having him sit on the bench while GA continues to struggle is just plain nuts.

Dont get me wrong here I know the guys dont use DH thing as a crutch. They just dont like it but I am sure they wont get mad if they are ever DHing. As far a Vlad he has been a great OF his arm at one point might have been the best ever in the MLB and he still has his arm for the most part. He does not have CF range like Mathews or Hunter but he is still good in RF. As GA is no pushover in LF. He gets great jumps on the ball and everything but is not the same player he used to be. I know the numbers are a little off bc Juan does not play all the time but at this level when you get a chance you have to preform and Juan is 5 for 30 right now. Not to mention he choked in a big AB the other night. He will have to get hot to stay in the lineup and he has done none of that yet. GA's homer was not meaningless also it is called insurance and the way K-rod has been this season we needed it. I know why yall are staying these things I dont exactly disagree with you guys I am just tryin to make you see both sides of it.

And that's a 3-Run shot by GA in the 4th. Here's hoping we can get Nick Adenhart his first ML win.

Go Angels!

I wish last nights game would settle the DH question, but I doubt that it will.  GA has a great night at the plate (at last), and Gary Matthews actually plays left field and not just the immediate area around  him where he's standing at the time ala GA.  He runs hard on two consecutive foul balls near the stands, one to erase a hitter.

If stoic GA is the team player he (and others) claim he is, he'll accept his reality that he is 36, doesn't like to run, will NOT sacrifice his body for an out, and embrace the DH role.  He better get used to it.  If he wants to have ANY chance of playing for ANY team next year, it's gonna be as a DH and only as a DH.

I agree front row. Although Matthews did botch that line drive that ended up giving the Royals 2 runs, I think. Those can be tough plays.

Matthews is clearly a better defender than GA though...it's pretty obvious.

3 HR's in 3 games...wow.  I hope you're right #1USCfan...that kind of offensive tear is scary for any team to face.

Garrett Anderson has hit 3 homeruns in 3 games.

I love seeing this kind of productions from him. Hopefully with him becoming a free agent after this season his bat will continue to produce which will add more runs to our already good hitting team.

Some can talk about Andersons slump that he is coming out of, but I think the thing hurting our team right now is Weaver. Now don't get me wrong because I think he is a great number 3 pitcher, but he is in need of Lackey's return to take some presure off of him.

Anyways, I don't want to take away from Andersons great week.

Keep it up GA

GO Angels!!!

Well how about this...they have finally figured out he steps away from the pitch. So, throw him on the outside part of the plate and he will never hit again...why has nobody ever seen this or figured it out ! Not to mention he is the most miserable human being alive...time for him to go !

Here's my thoughts, for what it's worth, on Vladdy and Anderson complaining about being the DH. As a coach you want to do whatever is best for the team, on that we can all agree, however, a coach as smart as Mike Scoscia, is well aware I'm sure, that sometimes the best thing for the team is to appease the star players, he would not do that if the team were losing though, and so far we are doing pretty good, considering the pitching and infield injuries we have had. It is the injuries, though part of the game, especially considering it is a 162 game schedule, that has me upset so far this year, making me even more glad that we did not trade three young players for one star player. I really do love this team, and think that they are set to be good for a long time, how many World Series wins do we get, is the only question left.  Only problem is, every game I watch without Kendrick at second or Figgins at third, just urks me to know end, and  also I can't wait to see big John Lackey take to the hill, brush some boys back and snarl at them if they don't like it. Angels in 08 baby!!!!
