LOL! I absolutely love it! 16 pitches and he's out of the game with a back or hamstring injury. PRICELESS.

where are all those Brave's fans talking about how old The Mets staff is??? I know Smoltz had a great game the other day, but how long until he joins Hampton and Glavine on the DL?

And nhow exactly are the Mets in the position to talk any trash on the topic to the Braves?
We're both injured.
Pedro Martinez is a bigger part of your rotation than Tom Glavine is to ours. Pedro is also out longer than Glavine will be.
Isn't Orlando Hernandez injured also? Yeah we've got Mike Hampton on the DL, but he's been there for 2 years, so we don't count on him at all. We figured anything he gave us would only be bonus, so I don't feel too bad about him going down. But how do you even compare the two? Pedro or Glavine....trust me, I'm sure all the Mets fans will admit losing Pedro is worse. You're counting on John Smoltz to hit the DL huh? Well how about you don't count it as a negative for our team until it happens ok? That's like me saying "Oh where are the mets going to be when David Wright gets injured?" Yeah that would blow for you guys, but it hasn't happened so I shouldn't act like it has. your ACE is 1-2. I understand he's pitched well this year, and both his losses could've gone either way, but look at it like this....
last year Johan Santana was 0-6 versus the Indians, who happened to be the Twins main rival. This year he is already 0-1 versus the Braves. Have you ever wondered if he is a natural choker in games where it really counts? The guy has amazing stuff, there is no fighting that, but what's up with the bad record against the teams that really count? The teams that he NEEDS to beat? I'm not too worried about our ace Tim Hudson, the guy has been extremely lights out and he'll have a great season. The old guy you referred to, and acted like he was injured (smoltz) shut down your team and your offense. Our number 2 pitcher stopped your ace. Who really has the problem? In 3 attempts, Santana is still winless against the Braves.
John Maine has got good stuff, and could turn out to be a big time pitcher, but can his stamina take him a full year? The only time he's been pushed far into the season he fell apart. The first bad game he has after the allstar break, and the fans will be all over him, expecting a repeat of last year. And that won't help...it'll only make it easier to fall back into the funk. Oh an he lost to the braves already also. Sorry, but I'm not too worried about my team.
As to why I'm upset, it's because just a week or two ago, I started a thread on the board saying how it sucked about pedro, and how i wished him a quick recovery because i wanted the season to be won by the better team, not the team that got hit less by the injury bug...and now i see you two morons saying how you love that a player from another team got hurt. You're a freaking joke. Why be glad someone is injured? Are you that worred about your team that you have to hope others get hurt? If you aren't worried, don't be a D-Bag, and root for a healthy season. But hey, here's to a healthy year. Let's get these guys back before the real summer time starts. To the non annoying mets fans, best of luck. We could both use it right now.

Get Em CHIPPER!! Haha.
Wow, I couldn't have said it better myself. I think it's frustrating for Mets fans sometimes because they buy and buy and buy more players and we sell and sell and sell our players and we still compete with them year in and year out. We get rid of all-star Edgar Renteria and bring in Yunel Escobar who is going to hit .300, has a solid arm (Bobby Cox says it is the 2nd strongest he has seen in the organization behind Furcal back in the day) and he has better range than the veteran. Renteria is probably a better all around hitter, but I"ll take a small step back in average for a plus in all other categories. If you really look at the deal, we traded Edgar Renteria and in return we received Jair Jurrjens (great prospect pitcher, already proving his worth), Tom Glavine (With Edgar's money), and Yunel Escobar (his replacement). I'll take that deal any day of the week. The Braves Front Office is considered the gold standard of Major League Baseball for a reason.

Piss off ATL fans. I wasnt trying to compare teams injuries, I was mocking Tom Glavine who I despise because he's a chump. You guys come here and respond like I was attacking your team, with long as hell possts about how the Braves are better etc etc?! I hope you convinced yourselves being the season is only 11 games old and both the Mets and Braves are chasing the Marlins as of now. And whats a Division title worth if you cant win a World Series??? Now go ahead and bring up 1995 so I can really get a laugh. Braves fan chumps...get bent and get over yourselves cause you aint much. I hope Glavine comes back soon and gets shelled in every game this year. Have a nice day!

Piss off ATL fans.
HAHA, I love it. Mets fans expect to be able to run their mouth and not have to worry about anybody putting them in their place.
Why don't you stop being a jerk and celebrating other people's injuries? Any true fan would rather see their team play and win against good competition than hope for other teams' good players to get hurt.
And do you not even see the hypocrisy of celebrating our #3 pitcher's slight injury when your #2 pitcher suffered a significant injury in his first game? Ummmm.... pot, meet kettle.
In the interest of sportsmanship, I'd like to invite Mets fans to join in a Santana bashing thread:

I dont like Tom Glavine. I wish bad things upon him. I have my reasons as well. If you dont like that, its YOUR problem. Whats funny is the original start of this thread was in no way meant to get ATL fans all riled up...in fact, it wasnt even directed at them in any way shape or form. But I guess a couple big mouth fans saw it and it just hurt their wittle feewings so they felt the need to respond with hostile babble. I dont care about the Braves unless the Mets are playing them, I care about the Mets primarily. You pissy little Braves fans need to go change your diapers and get a box of Kleenex to cry into.

racecar420, we're simply responding to your post. That's what message boards are for--- so fans of various teams can have a little entertaining banter about sports. If I posted a thread celebrating the injury of another team's player, I would fully expect to be responded to. I wouldn't, however, react by telling them to piss off. So who needs the diapers?
