	Other than he's the brother in law of Obama what's his credential? He's only been coaching for 2 years and it's in the Ivy League. How is he going to compete recruiting in talent rich Pac-10 conference to Corvallis? He's the student of Pete Carril so we'll soon find out Beavers will play slow down tempo with back door cut. It will be hard to convince recruits in the West Coast to buy into that system. I think OSU is too quick in hiring Craig Robinson unless there were no such thing as short list in the search for a new head coach.

	I would have to disagree. He's been a head coach for only 2 years, but was an assistant before that. He turned around a team at Brown and lead them to their most wins in school history. He runs a form of the Princeton offense which is much more up tempo than the strict version that Pete Carril ran. If you look at Brown's games this year they played up tempo when they could, but would also slow it down if it gave them a better chance at winning. You must remember that John Thompson III also runs a form of the Princeton offense and he has been quite successful at Georgetown. Finally, I look at the Pac-10 this year and wouldn't say that the most successful teams in the league actually played any more up tempo than Craig Robinson's Brown team or John Thompson's Georgetown team. UCLA liked to play a half court game and Washington State definitely slowed the tempo down. Most people on the west coach had never heard of him, because he coaches on the east coast. I'm sure there weren't a lot of people in Pittsburgh who had heard of Ben Howland when they hired him away from Northern Arizona. Give him several years before you pass judgment on the hiring of Coach Robinson. You never know who's going to turn out to be great at this level.

	I really, honestly, hope that he turns out to be everything that all the OSU fans could hope he could be and more, but for now I'll stay neutral on the subject. The way I see it, he has the potential to turn this program around, but it's an entirely different matter to see if he actually does. Fearless Optimism: Robinson brings a NIT berth to Corvallis in the 2010 season (2 years from now). OR Fearless Pessimism: Oregon State suffers two more last-place finishes and realizes they made a mistake. We'll see. I can see this one going either way.

	I agree beavs, I'm cautiously optimisic. I would love nothing more than to see the Beavers turn things around and at least hit .500 next year and maybe and NIT bid the year after. I'm happy to see new blood, I think it was due last year, but I'm not jumping up and down abou this guy. But then I didn't jump up and down (until the end of the season) when they hired Mike Riley the first time around either. I'm more than willing to give this guy a shot, but I hope Big Bob isn't afraid to pull the trigger in two years if things aren't working.
