Well, our mini collapse down the stretch cost us the 6th seed. Fortunately we are in the playoffs and we have an opportunity to up set one of the favorites to win the cup. I would be lying if I said that this is who I wanted to face in the first round, but it is what it is, and we get to play San Jose.
What does everyone think of our chances? Why do you think (if you do) we will win the series, we have to think positive and believe that we will win the first round, we gotta think positive.
Our board is pretty slow at times, this is the time of year that it should be buzzing, i hope we will be talking until the middle of June.

Obviously Shark72, your team was great over the season, and you are going to be favorites with all the prognosticators, but the season series was 3-1 in favour of the Flames. If Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton are clicking at the same time, then if will be tough for our Flames, but when has that happened on a consistent basis for your team.
I like our big physical guys to be able to help shut down Thornton during the series, granted we wont shut him down completely, but we will hopefully be able to slow him down just enough. Thronton this year in the four games against the Flames had one second assist, thats it. If that trend continues, i like our chances.
Go Flames!

Here's one stat probably not too many of you remember: Flames: 3, Sharks: 1. That stat is: Wins over the other team. Maybe we won't win, but if Edmonton can go all the way to the Finals, then "Why not us?"

I realize that the Oilers did it, but what about us! the season just before that as we know the Flames were one goal away (a goal in which they got from Martin Gelinas in game 6 but was reviewed too late. so stupid!) from winning the Stanley Cup for ourselves. I really hope we can pull it off this year, it would be so exciting. Even if we can just make it out of the first round that would be great!

2 vs 7 7 of the last 10 years in the West has upset the 2nd seed.
Teams that are highly touted and seem to get STAMPED with " they are going to win the Stanley Cup " CRACK under the pressure most of the time ! And it's usually the first round.
The first round is the hardest round to win.
Anyone who thinks the Sharks will roll over the Flames is in for a shocker :)

I didn't know that about the pst 2-7 match-up. The outcome of the games will depend on which Flames team shows up. An inconsistant team could get swept by the streaky Sharks, however if they play intense, hard nose, smart hockey, they can upset anybody. I sure hope we see the later Flames!
Go Flames!

I like the fact that most "experts" are picking San Jose to win the West if not to win the Stanley Cup. Nothing like some added pressure. "Hey someone put too much pepper on my Shark steak!" Sharks do look good though. Flames need to get at least one of the first two at San Jose.
