Well it's the dreaded of season. Once hockey season is over I dont know what I'm gonna do (Go Penguins!/ Pirates go suck a coc|< for the 17th straight year)

In the meantime, I think it would be cool just to start a forum on predictions for the 08-09 Hokie season.

Next season being my freshman year at Tech I hope to see some good play. I think the progression of our beloved freshman class will take us far. Without a doubt I think the Hokies will place in the top four in the ACC for the third straight year. Obviously though, this didn't get us into the big dance this year. The senior presence on the court will be A.D. Vassalo which i see as an upgrade from it being Deron Washington. Yes, Deron was electrifying. Yes he won us many games including the opening round game against Illinois in 06-07. BUT his overall play was at times inconsistent. We can expect A.D. to put up 18ish points a game next year.

Allen and Thompson can hold it down in the low post, and Delaney... wow what can be said about Delaney other than the fact that he is a steal and will be great if he stays in school (I have a strong feeling he will)

Overall I see the Hokies getting into the Tourney, possibly as high a seed that we saw them get in 06-07. Maybe Sweet Sixteen? We can hope!

hopefully sidney can stay healthy for the playoffs and give them a long run. i wouldnt mind seeing them win the cup. and congrats on being a freshman hokie next year. i know several folks that have/are going there and they all have good things to say about it. so you picked a good school to go to. good luck.

i am hoping the basketball team can avoid a sophomore slump. i dont know how they will finish. i would predict in the upper half of the league. i think they have to play north carolina & duke each twice next year, though i dont know where to find next year's schedule. so they will have a tougher schedule but if they finish 9-7 with that schedule, then they will make the ncaa tournament. also, since there arent going to be as many freshmen to bring in next year, we shouldnt lose the games to odu, richmond, etc. that we did this year. hopefully we can go to some good tournaments again so we can play the likes of butler and gonzaga in december.

as for player development, i think delaney will improve as he started to catch fire toward the end of the season and provide us with another outside threat. witcher showed some signs of improving. hopefully he can become a solid player next year. i would like to see allen not disappear in games like ole miss. i know i am forgetting other players but with a bunch of freshmen this year the potential is there for some good basketball next year. maybe in a few years we can pack 9500+ in cassel per game. those crowds for the nit really made it a home court advantage. i look forward to it next year.

we have a great shot to be in the top 4-5 in the acc.  north carolina and duke will obviously be there, and miami is going to have a good team, but we're going to have a pretty good team too.  the acc is going to be a great conference next year, i think if we finish with the same record we had this season we should make the tourney.

Yes fellas, the season is looking bright for next year. I also see Virginia Tech joining the ranks of top ACC teams alongside Miami (and of course) UNC and Duke.

I don't know if any of you checked out Parrish's Top 25 (and one) for next season, but although the Hokies did not make the top 26... they did make the "next five" or the 5 teams that just missed the cut or whatever he named it.

With my knowledge I assume Virginia Tech will only rise seeing that we arent losing any players to the draft and only have to fill the void left by Deron. Other teams like USC, KState, UCLA, Memphis will ALL lose a player or two.
