Freeman says that the women have caught up to the men in quality of play.  That's all I read.  Maybe I'm sexist, but women's basketball is a waste of air time.  It's competitive.  The women work hard, play hard, etc.  But it isn't worth watching.  The TV execs are trying to find a viable women's sport to put on the air and are shoving women's b-ball down our throats.  So, I echo Doyel's article, Mike Freeman are you serious?  Women's basketball will never pass the MLS on the national scene (and that says a lot) let alone approach men's b-ball.

I think what the TV execs are getting wrong is the sport that they are choosing.  How difficult is it to see that the women's game is never going to look like the men's game because we are never going to see women playing above the rim.
IF these guys were smart they would look at women's athletics and realize that some of them are damn entertaining.  For example, women's soccer is really pretty good stuff.  Again, women players are never going to be as strong and fast as their male couterparts, but when they are on the field together the women's game flows very nicely.  Another good one is women's tennis.  Granted it is not a team sport but still.

Mostly I agree, but I gotta say that the uconn - rutgers game this week was really entertaining.  If it had been a men's game, we would have be writing about it all week.  The tempo of the game was amazing, and the passing was a clinic - Bobby Knight would have been proud.
