If  Stephen Curry didn't have a Dad who played in the NBA and is not struggling for cash, he would have never stayed in school.  Now he will not even get drafted after his junior or senior season.  Any other kid would understand that now is the time to leave if he has his best future in mind.  Does he think he can duplicate his tourney performance next year???  Give me a break.  Great story, but bad financial decision for him.  Enjoy trading stocks Stephen and talking about the glory days when you were one of the most sought after draft picks of the draft that you didn't enter.

I"m sorry but I have to disagree.. I understand what you're saying about going to the NBA draft after a HOT performance in the NCAA bracket and go make that all mighty DOLLAR....Nobody understands that more than me because I'm a Bulls fan and we traded for Tyrus Thomas after he had an outstanding tournament..

But to go the NBA without a real position right now is something that is not the best time for him to go.. also you say that he is going from "one of the most sought after draft picks of the draft" to "now he will not even get drafted after his junior or senior season".. I highly disagree.. how does that make sense??? All of the a sudden he's just going to lose all his skills and won't be able to get drafted....

He grew 4 inches in the last 2 years and will only get stronger.. He knows what he has to do.. and he can SHOOT.... the NBA always needs shooters....There have been some good players that came from the college with his height ... Ben Gordon actually is the same height he is and was the 3rd pick in the draft after his 3rd year at UCONN.. I think 1 or 2 more years won't hurt him and his draft status.. the NBA will always be there...

But that's the point.  He has the ability to take the risk to hone his skills in the collegiate level before making the jump.

If  Stephen Curry didn't have a Dad who played in the NBA and is not struggling for cash, he would have never stayed in school. That is why it is a smart play, because his dad played in the NBA.  Not only is he not struggling for cash, don't you think his dad has plenty of NBA friends and associates that could properly advise them?  If Stephen was really ready and was going to be a high choice, his dad would let him go.  Not that is is exactly the same but Peyton Manning didn't seem to be hurt by deciding to stay in school for an extra year.  His father also enabled him to make a decision without being strapped for cash and have the connections in the professional.

people will still know what hes capable of whether he leaves this year or next. hes a great college player with an amazing shot. that isnt going to change. all he can do now is get better as a player.

Agreed... Although it's not an easy decision due to Curry's size, it hurts college players draft selection to wait a year.  Lets face it, Davidson isn't considered a power house in the the NCAA, it would be different if he played for a team say.... Kansas?

Not true.  If he played for Kansas he would probably get noticed less than now.  Kansas is full of players a bit below Curry's caliber - just a bit.  Curry had to carry Davidson because he didn't have many surrounding teammates that he could rely on. That's why the spotlight was on Curry. His draft position might be hurt (with other up and coming stars), as you say, but his shooting talents will not.  His size, strength and skills can only ameliorate from staying an extra year.  If he entered the NBA, he would only get to practice with the team he was on - and rarely play.  Look at JJ Redick.  He was, outright, one of the greatest shooters in NCAA history - with the exception of Pistol Pete and a few other greats - and he has yet to average over 15 minutes in the NBA.
