It's nice and refreshing to hear someone like Stephen Curry, on the heels of one of the greatest tourneys in recent times, dismissing the NBA and opting to return for at least another year.
This guy stands for all the things collegiate athlete should stand for. That's why everyone's so high on him. The piece prior to the game today illustrates what he's all about. Class all the way around. His parents should be congratulated for raising such an admirable young man.

This guy is too good for the NBA.
No, not skillwise-- but he's just too smart for the primarily "me first" attitude NBA players are notorious for. He's one of the rare stars that has his head on straight and is doing what he wants to do, not what the money says he should do. I know I'll rub off as a huge bandwagon Curry fan but I really like this kid's attitude towards both life and basketball.
I'm sure Curry will succeed in anything he desires to pursue.

"too smart for the primarily "me first" attitude NBA players are notorious for."
such as who? Chris Paul? Shane Battier? Monta Ellis? Al Jefferson? Who do you have in mind there?
"He's one of the rare stars that has his head on straight and is doing what he wants to do, not what the money says he should do." Really? Are you aware that his dad was a pro and unlike most stars he doesn't need the money.
"but I really like this kid's attitude towards both life and basketball."
do you even know the guy??? Come on man.
Go to the local corner store and buy yourself a clue.

I'll repond to ACC's response to Ozark.

UM....Starbury, Iverson, Kobe, Artest, Boozer...etc.

Are you aware that he'll probably make more money in this era that his pappy could ever dream of?

Look, I don't know the guy...but the way he carries himself suggests that he's got the right attitude. Not to mention that Dell carried himself the same way. Like father, like son.
Now go to the local corner store and buy yourself another adult beverage.

I think he should have taken it to the hoop and tried to draw the foul. All they needed was 2 points, and they were looking for a 3-ball the whole way. Curry= Amazing

First...I was really surprised that he was the one bringing the ball up the court. He is very good at coming off screens, I thought for sure he would be running off multiple screens all over the court to look for the open 3. But, it is what it is, and he had one heck of a tournament.
Second...I admire him for sticking to his guns and staying in school. His draft stock is so high right now but he is doing what he feels is best for him. I think he will have an alright pro career. The guy can flat out shoot the ball. His defense is not bad, it is definitely an area where he can improve. If he adds some weight in muscle and continues to improve his offense...he will have a nice career. I am sure there are quite a few teams out there that would like a guy on their team who has unlimited range and has the ability to hit big shot after big shot.

First, I can't help but feel heartened about this kid. Seems like the All-American story. He's only 19 so another year in college to get bigger and stronger and maybe learn the point position doesn't seem like a mistake to me.
For those who follow college BB closer than I do, considering that Davidson will lose their PG and 2 significant frontcourt contributors to graduation, is there a highly regarded h.s. frontcourt prospect (that could meet Davidson's academic requirements) who now might consider enrolling at Davidson to play with Curry next year? Do you think that the fact that the team will obviously center around Curry will help or hurt them in recruiting F/C's to replace the departing seniors?
just a question...

Curry is a Class act! He has a chance to make money and he turns it down for the love of the game. You dont see this often, he wants to win and i hope he does. He is my new favorite player now haha i am jumping on the bandwagon.

I totally agree! What a great kid, and so much fun to watch. He has to be one of the most down-to-earth stars in a while. I can't wait to see what he does next year even though it will be hard to live up to this year''s output.
It just shows that when a kid is raised right he will do the right thing.
(And Davidson owes him big time for the increase in applications and name recognition that they are going to get in the next 12 months!)

Davidson is not like the rest of the basketball factories (obviously) in college basketball...it is a high quality institution and a great place to live and attend classes. (I went there) Curry has the opportunity to get himself a top level degree that will benefit him whether or not he makes a big name for himself in the NBA. Also, injuries can happen at any point and can end a basketball career...what he is getting by staying in school is the ability to do whatever he wants should anything happen. Not all college players have that luxury, but he is smart enough to recognize it, and I hope that he will stay for his senior year as well and graduate.
Congrats to him and the whole Wildcat team on a great run and hopefully an even better one next year.

I applaud Stephen's decision -- & not solely because I'm a Wildcat fan. I think to make it in the NBA, it would be good to add some more muscle/strength. Also, with Richards now gone (kudos to him on a great collegiate career), Curry is slated to be more of a point guard. Honing these skills should make him that much more valuable in the NBA. And lastly, staying in school will prepare him better for his post-NBA life. Hats off to Curry, & the entire Davidson program!
As an aside, I find this run actually much more impressive than Davidson's regional finals in 1968 & 1969. Davidson had been nationally ranked starting in 1963 already & had had All-Americans Fred Hetzel & Dick Snyder. (In fact, Hetzel never did play an NCAA tournament game as the Wildcats were always bumped off in the Southern Conference Tournament.) And now in the first year Davidson has been ranked since 1970, they make it to the regional finals & nearly win! That is one heck of a story. I hope this helps McKillop recruit another solid/star player or two -- anyone know anything about that?

Prior to the tournament, there were no big time recruits interested in Davidson, with the best possiblity being a solid big man (7-footer) who I believe ended up committing to Clemson(?). There was a two star mid-sized PF who committed, but I can't seem to find his info again.
At this point, I would imagine that we won't see the positive recruiting as a result of this run until the following season, which would be Curry's senior year, if he stays.

I'm as big of a fan of any of the NCAA and don't like the NBA.
But a decision like this is much easier for a kid like Curry who doesn't have to think about the financial aspect of it. And it doesn't make him any better of a person than Michael Beasley or the like who do jump to the NBA.
For many, returning to school that extra year could cost them millions of dollars. Plenty of stars have fallen and their money flew out the window as they dropped to the 2nd round when they would've been 1st rounders a year earlier.
The NCAA = slavery and I don't blame a kid one bit for wanting out as soon as he can.

We don't know this kid anymore than we know O.J.. Would he be staying if he wasn't so well off financially because of his parents?
